—WR Ernest Wilford has one catch for 15 yards in three games, a major disappointment for the Dolphins' offseason acquisition who they doled out $6 million in guarantees. "He had a real good practice (last week), but he has to step up. Yeah, I am disappointed to be honest with you," said GM Jeff Ireland, the first Dolphins official to acknowledge Wilford's listless play.

—The Dolphins have defeated the Chargers six consecutive times, the longest such streak by Miami over any opponent. The Chargers' last win over Miami came in 1993.

—QB Chad Pennington went 2-0 against the Chargers when he was with the Jets. He completed 50 of 66 passes for 511 yards with three TDs and no interceptions.

—OLB Joey Porter needs one more sack to reach five and become the only player in the NFL to have at least five sacks every year this decade.

—The Dolphins haven't had a player on the injury list going into any game this season. "One of the things that we tried to make sure that we stressed to our players is that, from our end, injuries are a way to lose in our league. The teams that get injured, the teams that are hurt a bunch, the players that don't practice, all of those things, it's hard to recover from those types of things." coach Tony Sparano said.

—Dolphins outside linebackers coach Jim Reid is recovering from undisclosed surgery. He took ill last week after jogging, and he is out indefinitely. "He's doing a lot better," Sparano said. "Actually I believe they moved him into a room (Monday). He will be there for a little while, but he's doing pretty well. He is in good spirits."

—TE Anthony Fasano has become Chad Pennington's go-to-guy with 11 catches. He has already posted career highs with two touchdowns and 150 receiving yards after just three games. He is three shy of his career high of 14 catches set in each of his first two seasons.

—OG Evan Mathis is ready to take over the starting right guard spot if starter Ike Ndukwe falters. Mathis, a four-year veteran, played for offensive line coach Mike Maser and offensive coordinator Dan Henning at Carolina. However, the Dolphins ground game improved against the Patriots, so Ndukwe will retain his job — at least this week.

—RB Ronnie Brown is tied for the NFL lead with five touchdowns, and that doesn't count his TD pass against the Patriots.

—FB Casey Cramer replaced the released Boomer Grigsby and is presently the only fullback on the roster. Cramer is familiar with the offense from his days in Carolina playing under offensive coordinator Dan Henning, but thus far he has been sparingly used as a lead blocker in the two games he's played. Cramer also played tight end at Dartmouth.

My favorite part of 'em all, there's a reason why you practice..there's an even better reason why you practice hard.

We all need to hope Wilford finally comes through this week. We can use him in the red zone and I hope we do!

Unfortunately we already lost our young starting guard for the year. But it is good to not have that many injuries yet. I will reserve judgement on his methods over a full season.

would love that, but he has been a big turd thus far and being beat out for a starting position really does not bode well for how he has done.

we need to use Fasino alot in the next game but its shame that we havent any wrs that meritt and national exposure.
