We and the other Dolphin fan sites received this email from the Miami Dolphins two days ago:

"I know there has been discussion on your message boards regarding a recent story on field markings for our games at Dolphin Stadium. Any reports about the field markings at our games are premature. We are still in discussions with the University of Miami and Dolphin Stadium staff to determine what would work best for all parties concerned. We all are very much aware of the importance of maintaining our individual identities at each of our home games and are working together to determine the best way to do that."

This came directly from the team so it is the official word.

I hope they have to play with the Dolphins logo on the field...heck it's Dolphin stadium.

I wonder if the canes can just cover up the Dolphins logo somehow then remove it after the game.....

How did they do it when both played at the Orange Bowl?

I can't remember but I could swear each team had their logos on the field for their game. I don't know if it was constant painting, though.....

It's different from the Jets and Giants since you have a week to prepare. But what if the canes play on Saturday and the phins play on Sunday....

I remember in the early 80s the Orange Bowl logo at the 50 for dolphin playoff games as they played days after the Orange Bowl game.

I got it!! How about a Dolphin logo for Dolphin stadium....I vote yes!

Wow, so the Dolphins saw the thread I started here. Can't I get some kind of cheap perk for bringing this up here and making it an issue?? :D

So our opinions actually do count.

The Miami Herald just updated again:

http://www.miamiherald.com/1262/story/597430.html

The Dolphins said Tuesday they have decided to place their logo at midfield -- a reversal of the stadium's announced position last week -- ''but I haven't gotten down to the details of how we'll accomplish it,'' Schulze said. He said the word ''Dolphins'' would not appear in the end zone at least until UM's season ends. UM's last home game is Nov. 13 vs. Virginia Tech; the Dolphins have three remaining home games after that.

Just the word "MIAMI".....and underneath a picture of a dolphin caught in a real bad rain storm. :d-day:

Why can't they write the word "MIAMI" in orange and outlined in white in the endzones. That way it can be there the entire season and it would work for both teams since both have orange in the color schemes.

I looked at both schedules and it shows two weekends where the Canes have a home game saturday and the Fins have a game sunday, and one week where the Canes play on thursday and the Fins play on sunday.

Well according to the Herald it was UM fans that complained and they also apparently have the solution to the mid-field logo issue!

"But after UM officials were flooded with complaints, Hocutt (who got 200 e-mails) called Schulze on Monday to figure out a way to change that. The solution reached? 'Dolphin Stadium agreed to grow turf on a turf farm that will contain our `U' that will be painted on it,'' Hocutt said. ``Prior to every game, they will remove the midfield turf and insert the turf with our U painted in it.''

What about all of us Dolphins fans who called or e-mailed complaints or started the ball rolling like Schleprock? After all it is Dolphins Stadium!

How's about this... just have a big orange "M" in the middle of the field with Miami in both end zones, all of them can be orange with white border and it will cover both teams.

OR

Just rename the stadium the Orange Bowl and put a big ole Orange Bowl logo mid field like they did back in the 1980's and 1970's and put an orange Miami in the end zones with White border.

Either one is okay with me!

What do you guys think about renaming Dolphin stadium the Orange Bowl... I think that the Orange Bowl mystic and history and name has more to do with both teams, especially the Fins since that is where we went undefeated and that is where we made the record for the longest home winning streak in NFL history...
