I'm going to try to make my first Dolphins games this year in South Florida. I've been trying to get some lower level seats, and kindof wanted an orientation for a newbie to the experience at Dolphin's Stadium.

How is the best way to get there? How about parking? Is there a better side to sit on with respect to the sun? If I sit in the endzones or corner endzones, is it better to be high up in the section, or on the front row? How about bathrooms and concession stands? How about the tailgate situation and atmosphere?

Thanks in advance for the help, and I'm sooo looking forward to making a Phins game for the first time.
 
I flew down from NJ last year to go to a game and I would recommend trying to buy some tickets outside the stadium at game time, everything on the internet is always overpriced and there were guys walking around with STACKS of tickets for sale. We had seats all the way at the top, I was really impressed, I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. We were like 8 rows from the top of the stadium and the view wasn't bad at all. We sat on the home side and towards the end of the day the sun started to set and we were in the shade while the away side of the stadium was still in the sun, so I guess the home side is better for getting out of the sun. The parking lots closer to the stadium had the better tailgating, with big tents etc., further away wasn't bad either, although it was expensive. Hope that helped.
 
I sit in the west endzone in the 5th row and they are amazing seats. You can definitely find tickets right outside the stadium for way cheaper than the internet, just make sure they are real. The west endzone is the best place to sit because the sun sets in the west so by 3rd quarter the sun is more behind you than in your eyes. Given that all of our games are 1pm... we are going to get sun no matter what all game but at least on the west side its not in your eyes blocking your view. If you get endzone or corners, get as close to the front as possbile... awesome view. However he is right there really isnt a bad seat in the house view wise.

My first season as a season ticket holder i got stuck with what i thought at the time were the worst seats in the house, It was kind of late so all that i found available was nose bleed, im talking about row 25 way up there, at the begining i was just like oh well ill go, and next year ill get better seats as soon as they go on sale, but as soon as the first pre season game came along, and I went with a couple friends that also purchased season tickets, let me tell you it was so much fun, everybody im my section was super fun i had a trip all seson, so there are no bad seats in the house!!!!!!!!

My favorite seats in the stadium...and I've been in every section including being on the field during games...are in the West endzone, upper level, rows 1 through like 10. As stated previously, you'll get less direct sun there which really can be a big deal. I like those seats because I like to be able to see the plays develop, the holes open up, etc, etc. There really is no bad seat in the house, but I really don't like sitting to far up...not only is it too far up, but just walking all those damned stairs half drunk is really no fun. Tickets can be had at or just above face value around the stadium right around kick off. If you're going to go that route, I would suggest that you print up a little seating chart of the stadium so that you know where the tickets that you are considering buying are located. I have found that the best way to get there is by NW 199th Street...27th Ave gets too backed up and the turnpike or 95 is a mess around there. If you let me know from what direction you're headed from, I can point out what I feel is the best route for you a little better. The bathrooms are fine, the concessions are expensive...the tailgating is fun...just get there early to ensure a parking spot close to the stadium...if not, some of the farther lots are just that...FAR.
 
Thanks so much for the responses. I'll probably be headed down from Orlando as it is the closest airport that SW Airlines flies to out of my city. I'll probably rent a car and make the drive down. Don't know anything about the routes to take and such. I thought I would figure that out before the season and after I decided which games (probably 2 or 3) to take in.

Keep the info coming, as you guys are a treasure of info for a newbie.

Take the Florida Turnpike south until you hit Miami. It's about as simple as that.

Thats a good 3.5-5 hour drive depending on how fast you drive...plan accordingly.
 
I was also planning on getting tickets to a game....haven't seen the Fins play in Florida since a Monday night game back in '85 in the orange bowl. I'd like to be on the Dolphins side of the field and wanted to know which side is the home team side? ****Which Sections????
Tickets to the Patriots vs. Dolphin games up here in New England are ridiculously expensive...nosebleed seats over $300 each. Standing room only tickets going for $175.... prices are crazy since winning those superbowls.
 
Try to grab a parking pass on the way to the stadium, this will get you in the parking lots closer to the stadium, they are usually about $20 which is the the same as the cash lots which are further away.

I guess...if you want to walk a mile to save 20 or so bucks...not worth it if you asked me.

Not entirely true....the cash lots are the same ones that the folks with the orange parking passes use....Parking costs 20 bucks for those lots just like the other ones. There are other lots that only pass holders can use such as the blue and purple zones. Only purchase an orange pass if its being sold for less than 20 dollars, as you aren't gaining anything by buying one for face value...the passes for the other two zones I mentioned can be had for around 35-40 bucks outside of the stadium and they will get you right next to the stadium. The orange passes can get you close to the stadium if you get there early enough.

The key to securing good parking is getting there EARLY!!
