Personally, I'm not a fan of our 21-year-old home field. Granted, the big screens are nice and all, but I've never been keen on stadium perks. I just hate how far the stands are from the field and how dry and quiet that place is, even when there are 75,000 rabid Dolphins fans in full throat (something we haven't seen in a while). If you've gone to another NFL stadium, how does Dolphin Stadium compare to that or those venues? Thoughts?

I guess you can tell it's been a slow day...

Well I would like are own stadium.....One We don't hav 2 share with the mariners make they can get a new one and we can keep Dolphins stadium and expand the seating

The Dolphins share Dolphin Stadium with the Marlins (not the Mariners, who play in Seattle), who have already agreed to move into their own stadium at the Orange Bowl site in 2011. Also, from what I hear, it would extremely difficult to build seats closer to the field due to the design of the stadium, so there goes that idea.

the miami dolphins have the worst home field advantage...BY FAR, in the NFL. its a crime to our players and fans that we have to play in that stadium, it has so many negatives on so many levels that trickle all the way thru the franchise.

I hate it can you tell

I saw a game at the new Cardinals stadium....That place is amazing! Retractable roof, the whole field moves, so during the off season it convairs over where it can get more sun light.

Lets see, the other stadiums I have seen NFL games were Husky Stadium and Qwest Field in Seattle, Monster Park (really Candlestick Park) in San Francisco, Network Associates Colesuiem in Oakland, and Qualcolm (the Murph) in San Diego.
Dolphin Stadium is vastly superior to both the San Francisco and Oakland places. Husky Stadium being a college stadium is a different type of place all togther. Qwest Field is nice, with nice seats and views, however the lack of escalators is frustrating there and the concources do not go all around, limliting bathroom access.
As for the Murph, that place is the most like Dolphins stadium. So it is almost like a clone. I do like the leg room a little better at the Murph.

I guarantee I despise the place more than you do.

And I completely agree, it rots the foundation of the franchise, like a slow unseen water leak. When Boomer posted a thread detailing the malaise of the franchise months ago, I nominated the stadium in the comments. I was very surprised it wasn't front and center.

I honestly don't know what recommends that stadium, other than proximity to a third tier race track.

It always busts me up when I envision the opposing teams, flying into Miami International and then traveling away from the heart of the city to play the game. Now that's the definition of intimidating.

Huizenga can dump all his money into the place, upper tier grubs and toiletries, and then match the national debt in subsequent modifications. It wouldn't change a thing in terms of how the stadium plays, like a glorified neutral site.

The epitome of an unforced error, now plaguing the Dolphins and Canes. As I've said before, I'm glad I'm old enough to remember championships. Current tally: Orange Bowl 7, Warehouse 0. I don't expect a change any time soon.

Dude, I couldn't disagree more. I've been to Indy's, Arizona's, Miami's, and San Fran's stadiums and ours blows them away! (not the new AZ one though). I went to the Oakland game last year and I loved our stadium. Especially before the game even started. The concert (Jake Owen) was sweet. I got his guitar pick and he signed my Miami hat. The pool tables and bars outside, all the other events going on. It was amazing, oh and the store is phenomenal! About the quietness, Indy was way louder but it's a dome. And our big screens blow everyone's out of the water.

Our stadium is way too quiet and it's all because of the stupid configuration. The seats sit 4 miles away from the action and then you have the fans who sit on their hands and don't scream and yell. There are those fans who say "it's too hot to jump up and yell and scream". If you don't like it then don't go to the game. Get some screaming fans there who want to make noise!!!

I do agree with that. It was pourin down rain when i went so I dunno if that made a difference but I had some old man behind me gettin pissed cuz I was standin up and cheerin. I thought I was gonna go to jail 4 beatin up some old man. that's why you go to the games. If you can't get into it stay your arse at home

its funny that this was brought up because I was just thinking about it today. our stadium really does suck. its basically a field with 4 orange walls around it. the big screens just recently added do help, but so what? i can sadly say that I only went to the Orange Bowl twice...one time against Houston 2 years ago, and last year for the UM Vs. Virginia game, last game at the OB. and I can easily say that the atmosphere at both games were electric. its funny how an old beat up stadium in the middle of nowhere like that can make you feel as though your witnessing history, even though your playing against Houston! now obviously i dont expect a brand new stadium to give off the same atmosphere, at least not immediately because theres no history there, but when I walk into Dolphins Stadium as I have plenty of times, I dont get the great atmosphere feeling. i get the, i just paid $XX to watch a game and then go home. not saying its not worth it, but the stadium does suck. i would love for a new stadium to be built, something modern like Heinz field, the new Patriots stadium, Gillete i think its called, Seattles, Arizonas, the new Cowboys stadium...all those places look like incredible places to watch a game in while were stuck burning up watching a field with 4 orange walls surrounding it. but the chances that we get a new stadium anytime soon is highly unlikely. which is too damn bad.

You people who are knocking Joe Robbie Stadium, aka Dolphins Stadium, are really full of it and you don't know what you are talking about. The stands are farther away, but they are not that far away. The Joe is a fine stadium. I grew up going to the OB. People complained about that stadium all the time. The hallways and walkways weren't even close to being big enough. People had to walk single file and sideways to get around. Way too few concession stands and way too few bathrooms. You had to wait so long to get into the bathroom your teeth would be floating by the time you got in. Many people settled for the sinks to do their business. That is no lie. The real reason the OB was so loud is b/c of the way it was made. It was concrete, steel, and hollow underneath. The place vibrated and echoed when the fans stomped their feet. That's where the deafening noise came from. The Joe is solidly built, so it is quieter, but it's loud enough when the Fins play well. It's just been a long time since we've seen that. The problem with the Dolphins is not the stadium. It's the team. I don't care where they play. They are not going to win until the team gets better. When the team gets better we will have home field advantage again. BTW, the orange walls some of you refer to are in the Orange Bowl. The walls at Dolphin Stadium are aqua.

Well, considering I'm allegedly full of it and don't know what I'm talking about, I've been going to games at Dolphin Stadium since I was ten. I've been to Joe Robbie when it was jam packed and I've been there when it was nearly empty, and I swear to God that I could hardly tell the difference judging by the crowd noise (or lack thereof). I understand and agree that the Orange Bowl had too few bathrooms and concessions (But, hey, at least at DS you can buy cold chicken strips, soggy fries, and warm beer all for just $15! What a deal!), but if I were given the choice of trading supposedly "state-of-the-art" Dolphin Stadium for an old and creaking Orange Bowl (obviously, that choice doesn't exist anymore), I'd take the OB each and every time. Let Huizenga's Toilet crumble for all I care. What's worse, my Hurricanes are going to be playing at that funeral home for the next 25 years! In addition, Sports Illustrated ranked Dolphin Stadium 23rd out of 31 NFL stadiums in terms of "fan value experience", lower than architectural gems such as McAfee Coliseum, Ralph Wilson Stadium, and the Louisiana Superdome. The stands really are that far away, 90 feet away to be exact. That's the largest distance from sideline to stands in the NFL. Stadiums with running tracks have stands closer to the field than that. So even when you feel it's loud around you in the stands, the players on the field are not being affected by the noise as much as in just about every other NFL and collegiate stadium. So, in the end, Dolphin Stadium is a concrete turd with two video screens sticking out of each end.

Comparing an older stadium to the new ones being built doesn't make sense as they aren't going to be the same.

Dolphin Stadium is what it is. I happen to like the stadium. If the fans are quiet then put a better team on the field.
