Dolphins are seemingly terrified of running the football. Even last year, as a relatively pass-happy offense, they still ran the ball on 43.9 percent of their first downs, which was third in the league. They’re down to 28.8 percent this year, having totally given up on their running game while leaving teams to prey on Ryan Tannehill’s short passing game. Tannehill has posted a 29.1 QBR on first down this year, 33rd among the league’s 35 qualifying quarterbacks.

Sorry I was not laughing at the post but rather laughing at the cluster **** of "offense" this team has had over the past weeks. I truly hope we can turn this around! Now that philbin amd coyle are gone so soon I believe there's still a chance to salvage this year!

They are also the worst at converting 3rd downs and worst in redzone!

I guarantee we'll be running the ball more, at least for the first few quarters. We'll see how it works out.

The Dolphins aren’t moving the ball on first downs, and they aren’t converting on third downs, which is a great way for your offense to never, ever score.

The teams that can’t do much on third down have one obvious flaw in common: They can’t and don’t throw downfield.

And if you're always going 3 and out I would guess you're going to be pass heavy because you'll likely be passing on 2 of the 3 downs every series and eventually you'll get way behind on the scoreboard.

yet lazor remains

How is tannys issues lazors fault?

How much was philbin meddling in lazors offense? (ala wanny butting in on norv turners o)

These factors are probably why he remains and not to mention he's a damn good coach.

Yeah what this team needs is more time developing depth routes with these guards...

Not sure how anyone can label Lazor as a good coach. His play calling has been horrible, he doesn't set up the offense for success, his play calls in the red zone have always been questionable and have gotten worse this season.

The only reason he is here is that Philbin assembled such a bad staff that there is no one capable of taking over. The Al Saunders hiring speaks volumes about the staff and Bill Lazor.

Thats pretty freaking pathetic when you are first in passing offense and last (or close to last) in scoring offense

Can't throw down the field? Funny how people get stuck on the same rhetoric in every single thread. DON'T throw down the field is more accurate. Receivers can't get separation and the QB can't get 2 seconds to set his feet....how do we expect down field throws?
Tannehill is capable of making the throws, we've seen them many times.

Balance is key, seems like we're always in something and long and defenses tee off on us. If we can mix it up a little to keep the d off balance maybe we can move the chains once in a while. Tannehill changing protection and plays at the line has to happen though cause our enemic line gets destroyed in obvious plays. Vanilla D +vanilla O = losing season and piss poor rankings. I think having Mr. Rogers depart is addition by subtraction. We'll see.

How do you know? I can't say I know whether he's a good coach or not.
