Some have shown concern over next year's cap, carry over money, etc. The link gives all the details on the team and every player for 2015. Our tp 51 contracts total $130M, with the cap projected to be over $140M. We start with around $10M plus whatever we carry over, plus any one year deals we may still sign.

We do not have many FA's who we need to sign or extend. Odrick and Clay are the only two must signs I see. We will pick up Pouncey's option which is the average contract of of NFL centers between #3 and #20. That will be added to the $130M.

Our top paid players will be Wallace at $12M, Albert at $10.7M, Grimes at $10M, and Jones at $7.7M. There would be little or no savings to make a move with any of these players.

Then there is Wake at $9.7M, who would save $6.9M if traded, Ellerbe at $9.8M, who would save $5.6M, Finnegen at $6.5M, who would save $5.5M, and Wheeler at $4.4M, who would only save $200K.

There are a few others like Fields at $3.9M, Garner at $1.9M, and Trusnik at $1M, DT at $1M who we could make moves with.

We are in good shape for next year, and will see what needs to be done with Tannehill at that point. He will be making $4M in 2015. So, even if we have to give him a Big deal, it can be absorbed with the 2016 cap increase.

Thoughts on Fields getting almost $4M this year and next? He has been great but, that's a lot of money for a punter.

He is getting 3.6M this year and 3.9M next year, which puts him at the #3 highest paid punter. If you are the 3rd best punter in the league, I think being paid as the 3rd best seems fair.

So we are pretty much done in free agency? Looking ahead to draft and next year? Maybe a few more tweakes this free agency i hope. From what i have its almost like we are already looking to the draft? Plus no fins news no visits even planned?

Hickey better work some draft magic bc the offense as it is isn't going to win many games next season.

I also did not know that Ellerbe will cost $9.8M next year. With Hickey looking at LB's already, he had better have one hell of a year or, he will be history.

Man that wheeler contract was bad. Whats the point of cutting him to save 200k

Well thing is, whether (because of the salary cap) we want to admit it or not, he is one of our biggest weapons.

When Miami is in a close game, he is one of our most important players, and when we are in a game where we are dominating the opponent, every one of his punts becomes another nail in their coffin. The man is very good at what he does.

Yeah, the difference in field position likely won us a couple of games. I've seen one bad game in 2 years.

The LB contracts are ridiculous. I just don't know what Ireland saw in both of them to justify paying them like that. Also like someone else already said ... we better get some upgrades on our offense because scoring 17 or less a game on average won't cut it.

There isn't, might as well keep him as a backup. He'll be a dolphin until 2016 for those that want him gone.

Thank you for the information because 2015 is the year I am looking forward to, NOT 2014. If I am Dennis Hickey I would approach Tannehill about an extension during the early part of the 2014 regular season because heaven knows Hicky has A TON of leverage right now. Tannehill is not very good right now.

If Wheeler plays better (hard not to) his $4M cap his is not a big amount. If he plays the same, he has to go and at least we do not take a negative hit. A rookie taking his roster spot would be better.

Funny, I just noticed that Jackson's article is the same as the OP.

Matt Moore's contract is deducted from next year's cap, as his contract expires this year. The only benefit in trading or cutting him this year would be to sign someone now, and there is no reason to do that.

Tere is no need to keep cap space to rollover. It is better used to sign some 1 year deals, which will expire next year, and give us the same cap money as if we rolled it over, and we get a few more players to play this year.
