The draft buzz on Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been so low, few have heard much noise about him. But if Miami Dolphins defensive lineman A.J. Francis knows of what he speaks, it ought to be a lot louder.
Francis, who was picked up by the Dolphins two years ago as an undrafted free agent, hasn't played with Diggs since 2012. But Diggs obviously made quite an impression.

"He's the best player I've ever played with, college or pro," Francis told mmqb.si.com.
Considering Diggs' place in the long line of standout wide receivers in the 2015 draft class isn't anywhere near the front, that's either an incredibly bold statement about Diggs, or incredibly dismissive about the Dolphins' roster. Give Francis the benefit of the doubt, given the setting of where the remark was made (Francis was at Maryland's pro day in support of former teammates).
Context is always important, but Francis obviously remembers Diggs' freshman season with plenty of reverence. It was arguably Diggs' best season at the college level (54 catches, 848 yards, six touchdowns) -- not exactly dazzling numbers, but they were enough to be the team's runaway receiving leader as a first-year player.
Diggs ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in February

Not sure how "Diggs' best season at the college level (54 catches, 848 yards, six touchdowns)" equates to "He's the best player I've ever played with, college or pro" :idk:

Seems a bit odd to these ears.

It's because numbers only tell part of the story.

I like Diggs. But I have to wonder if this is honest or if this I just helping up a friend's draft status.

Too injury prone for my taste until day 3. Think rounds 5-7.

He's had two big injuries, the lacerated kidney and a broken leg. Those are two injuries that could happen to anybody and shouldn't be a reason to not like him.

Yes those injuries could happen to anyone however he lacks an ideal body type with a skinny legs and arms that leads me to believe he would be susceptible to injuries. He has been nicked or injured throughout the last two years.

im a Maryland fan, I love Diggs but not for us, Desean Jackson like, he's small and very fragile. He's an electric player that I pray docent go to the Patriots, you will grow to hate him, very slippery and fast, all around good player. I hope he's drafted out of the afc east

Seems like it's a helping hand to his buddy's draft status, especially after his injuries.

Can't really use stats with him because he's missed about 9 games the last two years due to injury.

And Francis can make that statement about being the best college or pro because he hasn't played a game in the NFL yet...this also includes a stint on the Patriots practice squad something the writer fails to mention when taking a little swipe at the Dolphins roster.

Well...how much has Francis really "played" in the NFL?

Now if he had said....."the best player I ever practiced with"....................

I've known about Diggs for quite some time as I live near College Park. Anyway, this is just one excerpt from one of Kiper's old chats...he's always been huge on Diggs. I copied this exchange below verbatim from an ESPN Chat...

Any thoughts on Maryland's dynamic WR, Stefon Diggs?

Phenomenal talent. I saw him at Good Council High School in Olney, Md. He's a top 10 pick. He's bigger than Tavon Austin. He's a top 5 to 10 pick when he's draft eligible. He's a sophomore this year.

Saw Diggs play at Maryland a few times, and he has hands, leaping ability and explosion in the open field. The 40 time doesn't tell you everything, there's a such thing as football speed. Had some injuries, but if he gets past them I see him as future pro bowl potential. Would be a great Round 3 pick.

We don't have a round 3 pick...they're insignificant according to the masses anyway.
