I am all for more talent on the line. One ting Wannstedt did right (and trust me that was very little ) was when we first got Ricky and we had a bunch of yahoos on the line. Wanny opened up every spot and said the top 5 linemen will start, regardless of position. Meaning, if our backup center was better than our supposed first string LT, the LT woule be bench and on of the centers would play out of position.
It sounds like mayhem, but we ended up having the rushing champion and giving up very few sacks. I never knew why he didn't seem to do that again. Anyhow, Having talent that is versatile enough to play anywhere on the line seemingly, is always a good thing. It gives you depth in case someone gets injured and one of your other starters has to take his place.
