Dolphins and IBM team up for "Stadium of the Future"

If Ross wants people to come to the games, he can't have Matt Moore starting....

This IBM ****, celebrities BS, drummers, fins up, blah blah blah...

I work as an IT Director in the sports and live entertainment field and we own and operate many arenas and stadiums in the US. It's easier to drop 1M on technology that is going to enhance the fan experience and allow for more revenue generation than it is to drop 1B on a new stadium that would have the same technology anyway. With most sports team's sales and marketing groups shifting their focus on social media and mobility, it's a logical step in the evolution of Stephen Ross and Mike Dee's ideas of delivering a profitable and popular product.

You talk about the desire to win being important and no one wants a loser. If that's the case, what are you all doing here? You're still fans, right? Dolphin ownership and management know that and in order to keep you as a fan, they work at engineering an experience that will have you coming back when the product on the field isn't as successful as they like. It makes total sense and it's the right thing for them to do.

i dont know about anybody else, but when i go to see the fins play, im there to watch the fins, im not there to tweet, facebook, watch tv on hand held rental , or partake in any other sparkle or flash. give me a winning football team that is all i need. bells and whistles wont make me buy tickets , a winning team will.

Demographics culled by any type of social integrator, like Facebook, twitter, hell even TicketMaster and BI tools that produce specific analytics and KPI's are used to determine the course of any company whose goal is to sell an experience. IIRC, ~80% of people in attendence at a sporting event or concert will interact with some type of technology or social media. The metrics available define the direction of a company's presence, be it online or via brick and mortar.

You may not interact with your mobile device or tweet at a 'Fins game, but the metrics prove that a lot of people do and 'Fins management will take advantage of that to attract more business and more clients.

That must explain why the stadium is 80% empty, not enough social media.

I'm sure it will be awesome next time I go see them, which is when I feel they are worth my money. Until then, I'll stick to keeping my money and watching them play horrible football for free.

You realize that by waiting for them to play well enough to go... that makes you a bandwagon fan?

You realize that you don't know what that means, right? A bandwagon fan jumps to whatever team happens to be winning. A bandwagon fans don't dedicate hours a day to a fansite despite the team being run like **** and has been for over a decade. A bandwagon doesn't watch every single game, even when they're playing like a bunch of girls. He most certainly doesn't go to a game at an arch-rival's stadium wearing his team's gear only to be embarrassed by a bunch of ******* that stole the Dolphins uniforms and tried to play (at the jests).

But, if you feel that not being willing to spend thousands of dollars supporting a team that has done nothing to make itself competitive in over a decade makes me a bandwagon fan, please keep any other financial advice to yourself because you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

The stadium seating sucks for football games, and the location sucks because it is in the ghetto.
Adding all the technology is like adding 23" rims to a rusty 1978 caprice classic.

I would pay more to have the stadium located near the ocean, with some night spots and restaurants in walking distance.

I don't understand how they could move the seats closer to the field unless they maybe found a way to lower the playing surface. Been there many times and don't get how it could be done. Maybe it's just me.

I'd rather a new stadium....even tho I know thats not happening. How bout moving the seats closer to the field for starters?
