Ok, here's the deal:
If we beat the Patriots, Jets, and/or Bills, the National Media will say we won because those teams have lost key players to injuries and we are still a rebuilding 6-10 to 8-8 team at best.
If we lose to the Bills and/or Jets it's because they are the playoff caliber teams everyone said they would be, and they have persevered past their injury problems to put away the Dolphins, who were obviously not very good like everyone said.
If we lose to the Patriots, it's because Bill Belichick is a genius and plugged a rookie RB from some practice squad in Harrison's safety spot, and in 2 years the kid will be going to the pro bowl.
*extra note on the Patriots - The media says that Bill B. is a great coach and can coach players to be good enough and work them into the system and fill in the holes. The media also says that Nick Saban is an excellent coach, has the best and most disciplined practices in the NFL, but lacks the players he needs to even make it into the playoffs.
So the question is: Despite all the praise they give Saban for his coaching, why does the media say Bill B. can plug in players and make wins, but Saban can't? Yes, the Patriots have 3 super bowl rings. But this is Nick's first year, and we all know he is already doing a hell of a job. Call it conspiracy, call it Northeast media bias, but the observation is there, and it's true.
If we beat the Chiefs or the Falcons it's because we're playing at home and the heat killed them, not us. Yes, the heat helps, but the fact that our run defense is solid seems to evade the minds of many analysts and experts.
Back to the NE media bias thing. I have a friend that I work with. He is a HUGE Cowboys fan; the kind that broke his television remote throwing it and had to leave his apartment and take a walk before he broke anything else because they lost to the redskins on monday night.
Anyway, I asked him how he felt about Skip Bayless 3 years ago saying that the Patriots were "America's Team" now, and that it seemed to have caught onto a few Patriots fans.
Well, lets just say that his reaction was not pretty. I write this post with the confession of being a 100% homer. However, the NE media bias is there. I've asked around and South Florida is not the only place that feels they get the shaft.
So for all of us true blue Phins fans out there, lets keep on trucking. At the end of the year when we're in the playoffs, lets make sure our vengeance is felt. When Sean Salisbury does his weekly call with ESPN 790, bomb the station with calls and call him out on it. Write CBS and tell them Dan Dierdorf is a joke. Pour your derision on Skip Bayless for being a Marino Hater.
Just prove them wrong and make them eat crow!!! :fire:
P.S. - I'm not trying to make a hate list of media people, but if there was any comment or detail I missed where our team has been ruled out or cast aside, feel free to add it in.
