Dolphins Angling To Cement Their Role In The Division Basement - A New Low Badly Out Executed By the Jets!

yes. especially vs a late 3rd. i was on record ahead of time saying this so it is not revisionist history
Okay I am cool with that. Tag him or extension ? I said we should try to sign up to team friendly deal too.

You better care what the Jets did, because it pretty much guarantees that the Fins will be last place for quite a while.
I really don't care what the Jets do. Their track record for sustained success is even worse than ours. They may indeed get ahead of us in the division, but I can't foresee them staying in contention for the AFCE title very long, if at all. They are the Jets for a reason. The bigger problems right now are the Bills and Patriots who are and continue to be head and shoulders above us.
Miami dug themselves a very deep hole following Grier and McD. Maybe for once Ross gets it right and puts some true football people in charge and we build a physical, disciplined team that produces winning results year after year.

Ross just watch the Jets tank .
He fired Grier thinking this will appease the fans.
Wait and see he will announce McDaniel is here next season.
We will draft around 10 and pick another player similar to what we have always done ... a non impact player.
The new G.M will listen to McDaniel and draft another useless lineman who gets pushed around.
We are have no identity and direction and it starts at the very top.

You do realize that Jests fans look at the Fins the same way you look at the Jests?! Other teams mark the Dolphins game off as a win when they look at their schedules.

We need to lose out and were guaranteed the #1 pick since we play the Jets and Saints. If Jets get Mendoza. This will set backs our Franchise the next 10 years easy. Start Quinn now after the Bills blow us out 42-10

What did we do at the deadline? Almost nothing. We traded a young theoretically talented player, will pay the rest of his salary for the year, and only got what might be close to the last pick in the 3rd round, ergo closer to a 4th than a third. Then we held on to all of our older players, including the ones that won’t even be around next year like Chubb, Minkah, Rasul Douglas and Judon.
What if that was the plan all along?

Wait until the end of the year to make player shifts.
Give McD and the new GM draft assets.
Give McD a more prototypical NFL QB. (reader's discretion of the meaning)
Get a bit more out of debt.

Give McD a year to prove his value as an NFL HC.

Well at least the Jets picked a path, and executed well. In addition to all the draft capital they acquired, these deals also give them a pretty good shot at finishing in the NFL basement and securing the #1 overall spot in the NFL draft with their own pick. On top of all the draft capital, god forbid they take a QB and hit on the kid. We will have Josh Allen, Drake Maye, and theoretical legit QB #3 in the division, while we will still be playing yanky wanky with no real vision, strategy, or structure. Or the Jets could trade back and stockpile even more picks to load their roster. The Jets have at least acknowledged where they are, and there is now a path.

The Jets bagged 2 first rounders for Sauce Gardner, and a 1st and a second for Quinnen Williams, who is a defensive tackle! Both players are already getting paid. Williams is due to make $21mm next year and $25mm the following year.

Heck, the Saints got almost the same return for that JAG Rashid Shaheed (4th and a 6th) that we got for Jaelen Phillips. Same for the Raiders trading Jakoby Meyers.

Our execution at the deadline sucked on every dimension possible. Relative to what other players went for, we did not get nearly enough for Jaelen Phillips. Why did we even need to trade him yesterday? Just hold out to the last second, it would have helped too because we would have seen what other players moved for.

Then the mosaic of what we did is also awful. Moved the young guy with a future, kept the old guys that won't be around next year. Did not choose a clear path. Left ourselves stuck in nowhere land once again. Just a go nowhere muddled mess of crappy execution with no vision.

Maybe our plan is to stare at the rear ends of everyone in the division for the next 10 years? It is outright embarrassing when you get out-executed on every single dimension by a joke of a franchise like the Jets. They chose a path, we didn’t. They executed their trades well and extracted enormous value (overpayments), we did the opposite.

Just wait until the GM, HC and other roster decisions this off-season. Why would anyone have any faith in what they do at this point?
First off, I love Jalen Phillips! He is a gym rat, a true team player, lots of potential...BUT...he's had two MAJOR injuries, he's due a new contract next year which the Dolphins apparently were no interested in paying because of the injury history. We are in cap hell thanks to the Tua deal and Grier and the front offices continuous mismanagement of money. The Dolphins really did not have a choice. Keep Phillips and let him walk into FA next year or at least get SOMETING for him? I hate the trade, but I understand it. My only gripe is that the front office STILL does not recognize that ITS OVER! Time to blow it all up and make this as attractive as possible to a new GM and head coach! They again blew it! The Jets however, (and OMG I hate the Jets!) did it right. Miami should have put everything up for bids...maybe they did but given their history of putting band aids on compound fractures, I doubt it.!

I could care less what the Jets did, F the Jests. We just didn't have the players that other teams wanted. Credit Grier for the lack of talent we had.
2026 draft does not have a true #1 QB. Let's let our new GM and HC determine how we draft and add FA this coming off season. We can fill many roster positions in this draft. As others have stated let's wait until the 2027 draft to get a QB

Agree. Or, had some player (e.g., Chubb), but the salary was the killer

re your concluding sentence i hope so, but the jets have the same chance and are now well ahead of us in that race. we are no more well run than they are. in fact, post the deadline you now have to say we are the least well run organization and in the worst shape

exactly and to cap it off, the jets now seem to have outdone us!

if mcd sticks around that likely means once again ross forced a HC on a new GM. any new GM that accepts that arrangement will therefore most likely be a chump GM. good GM will want their own guy as HC.

I understand your point and your stance. I can see why you think the way you do. I can't objectively disagree with most of what you post.

I'm just saying, what if McD was tied to Tua?

Now that things have "officially" gone south, what if the regime has thrown in the towel on the "franchise QB" and is pivoting?

Perhaps we don't know what McD is capable of when he builds his team around a prototypical NFL quarterback.

It's just something to consider, as we really don't know the inside story.

I agree with that for sure. It's really a shame that Miami has sunk to the level of hopelessness that was once reserved for teams like the Browns and Lions.
