Dolphins Begin Extension Talks With Cornerback Xavien Howard

he Miami Dolphins’ decision makers met with cornerback Xavien Howard’s representatives Thursday evening in Indianapolis to begin talks about a contract extension.
It is possible that Miami could use the framework of the five-year, $65 million deal the New England Patriots gave Stephon Gilmore as a free agent two years ago as a template for a new deal with Howard. Gilmore, whom new Dolphins head coach Brian Flores built his secondary in New England around, was given $40 million in guaranteed money by the notoriously frugal Patriots.
