Dolphins brought in Dustin Hopkins for a visit

Isn't he a kicker?

rivalry week @ Dolphins practice. UF vs. FSU, Hopkins vs. Sturgis . . . glad they aren't settling on Sturgis. Need to think long and hard if you want him to be your kicker next year. He's been the definition of inconsistent.

Yes why would you bother with a kicker change now? Perhaps they want to see Hopkins because they are thinking about an offseason move?

A bit too late IMO. Didnt we bring him in after he was released durng TC and then let him go.

Here's the thing: The second we get a new special teams coordinator, I bet you will see a better kicking game.

Carp turned to **** under Rizzi and Sturgis quickly went from good to lousy. Carp goes to Buffalo and he's great again?

Trend here?

How much coaching do you need to kick a ball? Kickers have up and down moments, more than anything it's confidence. Sometimes a change of scenery is best.

Carp could always kick. Its more the mental.

Once the mental is gone for a kicker he is toast.

Carp had to move on to another team in which the home fans wouldn't boo him every chance they got.

Hence why he had a revival in Buff.

The FG thing could defiantly be confidence etc...but what is with the kickoffs? He made the team because he consistently had excellent depth of the kickoffs. What happen -was it the groin injury? or is he being coached not to just boom it and to try and pin the opponent inside the 20?

All I know is that Carp couldn't kick the ball worth a damn his last two years here, yet looks great again as soon as he goes to Buffalo. Sturgis starts out fine, and then immediately goes to crap.

I bet Sturgis will get cut, go elsewhere, and be a good kicker.

That's all I'm saying. I think Rizzi is asking them to get a certain trajectory on their kicks, or something.

I don't care how late it is in the season. If he's a better option, secure him now and he can get familiar with the team. And it guarantees we would have him for the future as opposed to him landing somewhere next offseason. Dude got a bad deal, Carp tore it up in buffalo. If I recall, (could be wrong) but Hopkins was the better player in college

Maybe Dustin Hopkins will go all rain man on the league and obsess us into the playoffs.... oh, wait. lol
