$8mm left, I forget the exact rule of thumb how much they need to leave for the draft class (they have a lot of picks) and for contingency during the year, but that might be close to the $8mm. I do not know how much more they can free up with restructures, but probably not a ton to move on Brooks or Seiler. Any FA additions from here will probably be tiny. I think give or take what we have now plus the draft class is our team. That includes the OL.

12:10 p.m.: The NFL gave the Dolphins an additional $3.6 million in carry-over space on Wednesday, giving Miami an adjusted cap figure of $285.9 million. Per Spotrac.com, that left Miami with $14 million or so in space, but before the contracts of Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tyrel Dodson, Ashtyn Davis and Larry Borom are factored in. The Dolphins likely have in the range of $8 million in space and can create more by restructuring contracts of several veterans, including Jordyn Brooks and Zach Sieler. Only the top 51 contracts count against a team’s cap.

Our 2 biggest upgrades are coming off Achilles injuries. This team just doesn’t look to be any better than it was last year.

Last year team easily makes the playoffs with Tua not being on IR.

You have Chubb as an addition and a good guard. Plus we have 4 picks in the first 100 picks in the draft.

If Calais Campbell wants to come back, they have to make room, right?

i sure as heck would make room for him somehow. but boy, they are gonna have to free up money somehow to do it. it will be interesting if he is willing to give them a deal again to make it work. i would shade it less than 50/50 though due to both the money issues, and i think he wants to play for a contending team, and something tells me he is less high on the dolphins propspects than he would be on the prospects for other potential suitors. i still give it a chance, but we shall see.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the cap. I don’t think that’s much of an indication on whether or not they’re done….. I’m sure they have potential restructures on the back burner to trigger if needed.

We can open up $20 million or so without even having to touch Tua’s contract (which I wouldn’t want to).

I am no capologist but someone here posted it last week….. think they mentioned restructuring Brooks & Brewer, and a potential Sieler extension as ways to open up more space.

I could be off, but you mentioned Sieler. Those two were the biggest bright spot on the team last year. Getting a restructure for Sieler and keeping Campbell next to him would be ideal, if Campbell wants it.

I would look elsewhere for a chance at real winning if I’m Campbell, but it’d be amazing if he were back — and I’d definitely draft a replacement/player to rotate with him as well

They can still restructure Tua and get another 15M

thanks. the brooks and seiler points are in the OP

yes. but i hope they don't. just creates a bigger future obligation when we might need to rebuild this whole thing after this year. my view, we have already shoved a ton into the future and already have a big mess, dont want more to try and clean up.

I wouldn’t touch that contract unless he suits up for 17 games + postseason win(s).

For the better of protecting the future flexibility for this franchise, that “out” needs to stay exactly where it is, IMO.

And I’m a Pro Tua guy. Just keeping it a buck.
