Dolphins Cap Update - I Think They Are Give Or Take Done Until The Draft

If this is it than man were cooked. Might as well fire them all now not enough or big enough updates to make this team AFC winners let alone Super Bowl contenders.

Lets run it back GRIER LETS GO!!!

ahh got it. i am surprised in year 1 of rookie deals, there is that much difference between cash and cap on those contracts. i would think given the money is small, and the deals straightforward, the cap hit would be close to the cash hit. but maybe the issue is they get the entire signing bonus the year the contract is signed, so cash payout is high, but then for cap purposes, the signing bonus is pro-rated over the next 4 to 5 years? so i guess that is the difference. anyway assume the $6mm is right, i suspect we need more than $2mm for in season contingencies, so they are going to have to restructure a few guys, especially if there is one more player they want to add.
well, keep in mind only the top 51 count against the cap......those late round picks don’t get a lot compared to the earlier rounds

great. how did that help us this year? over the next century, they probably have $15bb of cap space. i have no idea what your point is. other than once we scrap the thing and get rid of all the bad contracts and start over we will be able to spend money in FA again, in maybe 3 years. cap space is also a relative issue in addition to an absolute issue. cap space relative to the other teams who can bid on players is what really affects what you can do. this year we were not in play for a single top tier FA because of the lack of cap space, and we actually had to shed talent again like jevon holland

We get it, you’re miserable.

I would have liked another interior office lineman that can start day 1. That would solidify the line heading into the draft.

yes but the math is still the math. if they have $8mm of space, and it takes $6mm of space for the draft class, $2mm leftover is not enough for in season contingency, let alone if they want to sign someone else. so there are going to be more restructurings coming. i am ok with brooks and seiler, for example.

Maybe Greer can do like I do in Madden cut half my team to free up salary sign a few studs and just hope and pray that I don’t get any injuries during the season. Everybody lives on one year contracts in my franchise, but we won to Super Bowls in a row. And going for three now undefeated

well i dunno about that, but between grier and mcdaniel (and the play calling and decisions) sometimes I think they believe they are playing madden football as opposed to nfl football.

Last year team easily makes the playoffs with Tua not being on IR.

You have Chubb as an addition and a good guard. Plus we have 4 picks in the first 100 picks in the draft.
We won't have the leagues easiest schedule in 2025 like we did last year, don't forget.

People that fret over the cap don’t understand an actual business. The cap is how much an owner wants to spend. Period. A budget

Any argument will be shown the bengals, saints and eagles as exhibits 1-3

Interesting. So since the Dolphins did little in FA the last two years, and let Rob Hunt and Wilkins and Holland and Brandon Jones and Van Ginkel go, amongst others, by your definition Ross is now a cheapskate. Walking form these guys had nothing to do with cap space, and everything to do with Ross not wanting to spend the money? And by the Eagles, are you referring to the team that just had to let a ton of talented players go, for cap reasons? THose guys went all in, but at least they have 3 SB appearances and 2 wins to show for it, and even though they have to start undoing the thing now, the GM there is so good, I bet the team will still be fine and probably make the playoffs. While we still have not won a stinking playoff game and missed the playoffs again last year. Rams were similar to the Eagles. Another good GM. Our return on going all in might be the worst in the history of the NFL and I am not kidding.
