One more voice of concern about our DBs. Danny Dabiri from realfootball365.com writes that last season "The Dolphins only managed eight interceptions last year, two of which came from defensive end Jason Taylor. With six picks, the Washington Redskins were the only team with fewer interceptions."

Many of us are worried about our DB situation. With the Patsies new receiving corps, the guys need to step up their game and make some INTs.
:kick:

agreed. But i think that it should be much better this year. Now that everyone is acostomed to the system, and that capers simplified it they will be able to spend more time looking at the QB, and less time looking at each other trying to figure out where to line up...

I agree, out DBs have to make more INTs and defend more passes. I hope Jason Allen can contribute now thta he is at his 'original' position

Interceptions are great, but if we just knock the ball down and don't give up huge plays I'm equally as happy.

jason taylor was tied with the most interceptions with two that is pretty sad , renaldo Hill was probably our best DB hope jason Allen plays well as CB this year and another plus is that Nick Saban is not yelling at players at practises so thats a plus so we should be better in pass defense

We need our guys to start playing with a little instinct they have just been playing the reciever and not the ball, they need to have a bead on the ball from the time its put in the air to the time it lands in their hands.

yea they do but im not to worried aobut it i time we will get our intersiptions

Agreed but easier said than done. Daniels, Allen, and Goodman are the candidates for picks. Daniels and Goodman at best can give you 3, which is good enough for a 2nd CB. Our 1st CB Will Allen has hands of stone and can only get a pick if he yanks it out of the WR's hands (how he got his only int last season) or the ball lodges itself in his facemask. That said, all of our CB's are a bit iffy on knocking down passes. None of our CB's are in the top 30 in passes defended or interceptions. All this D needs to be fully dominant is a pure cover corner.

The more we see of Daniels,Jason Allen and Mitchell, the more int's we will see. Goodman,Allen and Hill aren't int. type players. I expect Bell to get a few this year.

I think we are going to force more turnovers from the additional pressure we put on the quarterback this year. He will have less time to find the open receiver with Taylor and Porter coming.

Speaking of the Secondary, Dolphins Sign Free Agent Safety Chris Harrell.

The 24-year-old Harrell went to camp with Arizona as an undrafted college free agent last year and was released prior to the regular season. He played with Berlin of NFL Europa this past spring where he recorded 48 tackles and tied for the team lead with two interceptions.

The 6-1, 212-pounder was a four-year letterman (2001-03, 2005) at Penn State where he amassed 228 career tackles and an interception. Born January 29, 1983, Harrell attended Euclid (Ohio) High School.

Knocking the ball down and not giving up big plays is nice, but when you have an anemic offense like we have had in recent years you need turnovers. That is one of the main differences between a team like us and a team like Baltimore. Baltimore's defense makes their mediocre offense better. They score points. They shorten the field. And they cover for mistakes. Our defense needs to do that more . . . without a doubt.
