#Dolphins waived CB Justin Rogers.

Owens started 2 games for the Browns this year and played in 13 total. He has 57 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble. The Browns handed us Patterson last year around this time, maybe there is something worth salvaging with Owens.

another corner? makes you wonder about Jamar Taylor and even Will Davis

Who the heck was Rogers. You know it's bad when you sign someone you never heard of to replace someone you never heard of.

its a worse sign when you're still signing guys that play a position you already invested a 2nd and 3rd round pick in. Makes you wonder just how behind the 8 ball Jamar and Will really are...

owensᅠis the 40th-ranked corner in football this year, according to pro football focus, allowing a 96.5 passer rating to passes thrown in his direction.
fwiw

You just said what the other guy said?!

As for my opinion, I think it's very telling that they signed these two new cornerbacks, probably means Taylor and Davis suck.

Here is some info when he came out of college.

Overview

Starting opposite playmakers Dwight Lowery and Coye Francies throughout his career, opponents frequently targeted Owens over the past three years. The constant attention has made Owens one of the more mentally tough corners in the draft. Owens is smaller than scouts would like but is physical in both coverage and in run support. He has the speed and agility to run with receivers and can make plays on the ball with 20 career pass breakups and 13 interceptions. Owens' size limits his ability in jump-ball situations, but with his quickness and tenacity, Owens could provide good value as a nickel or dime cornerback on the second day of the draft.
Analysis
Strengths
Positives: Plays bigger than his size. ... Good straight-line speed. ... Shows a late burst to recover if beaten initially. ... Flashes a good initial pop on the receiver. ... Aggressive in run support. ... Willing to fight through trash to make the stop at or near the line of scrimmage. ... Quick, active hands to break up passes. ... Good leaping ability and times his leaps well. ... Natural hands for the interception and can track over his shoulder. ... Mentally tough. ... Durable. ... Started 38 games. Negatives: Doesn't back down from the physical challenge of bigger receivers, but simply is too short to handle their height in jump-ball situations. ... Adequate hip flexibility. ... Loses a step in his transition and isn't explosive out of his breaks. ... Allows separation and isn't big or strong enough to get back around the receiver to knock away accurate passes.

Patterson & Stanford are done for the year, Carroll gets dinged up a lot, and Grimes got hurt last week. That leaves Taylor and Davis, inexperienced rookies and Thomas inexperienced and new to the system. This signing is about bring in depth for one but also brings in someone who can play the slot.

This and turning over rocks.

In case anyone has noticed. The name of the game now is to steal others PS guys when yours get hurt.

Funny I was looking this guy up and the Browns put him on IR December 3rd because of a knee issue. Looks like we took another injured corner from the Browns. Not much good he's going to do us right now.

BEREA, Ohio – The Browns released cornerback Chris Owens and receiver Armanti Edwards on Tuesday, the club announced. Both players were on injured reserve.

Offensive lineman Patrick Lewis also was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars from the Browns’ practice squad.

The Browns had signed Owens to a one-year, $1 million free-agent deal in the offseason. He appeared in 12 games, registering 54 tackles, 2.5 sacks and three passes defensed and one forced fumble before being placed on IR with a sprained knee on Dec. 3. Owens, 27, struggled early in the season, working mostly as a nickel back behind Joe Haden and Buster Skrine.

Edwards, 25, caught one pass and returned four kicks for 28 yards in two games before suffering an ankle injury on Nov. 17.
