Miami #Dolphins claim former defensive back Don Jones, whom the Patriots released on Thursday. http://fw.to/wQynB8g

The Miami Dolphins have been sticking to players they know to address the injury decimated secondary, and that includes claiming former safety Don Jones on Friday.
the Dolphins' 2013 seven-round draft pick, was waived by the new England Patriots on Thursday. He told the Sun-Sentinel on Friday afternoon that the Dolphins have claimed him.

The Dolphins saw his release as the ideal opportunity to re-acquire the defensive back, who excelled as a special teams contributor in his rookie season.

Jones filled the same gunner role for the Patriots this season,
Jones initially made the Dolphins' 53-man roster, but was released a day later to make room for players Miami claimed. The Patriots picked him up off the waiver wire and he's contributed six special teams tackles.

The Patriots apparently planned to put Jones on the practice squad, but now he's back with Miami, which plays New England again on Dec. 14.

Special teams just got a lot better, plus R.J. Stanford is solid as well.

Maybe the special teams can make a move and help win some games down the stretch.

I like the move.

The Dolphins have to make room for Don Jones by cutting someone. We'll soon know who that player is.

Miami can also place someone on IR, so they do have a few options

I would IR Freeney. Why wait at this point?

Got ST help and can play billecheats own game and get info from him for the next Pats game.

Works for me. Let's hope that the knowledge he has from his time at New England is still relevant.

I wouldn't be shocked if the entire playbook changed just to **** Miami up.

OMG...Horrible!!!

Kidding.

Anyone remember this sweet play against the Falcons last year? It pretty much changed the momentum in the game.

Hopefully we see a lot more of these hits on special teams...especially against the Pats! :)

two of our former Special teams players who were great at what they did back in the same week, not to mention to help a depleted secondary too.

Good signing for functional and informational reasons. IMO the club owes Don Jones for being made the scapegoat over a reflex twitter reaction regarding a staged dog and pony show charade featuring a "draftee" who now can't get arrested.

Wasn't cut because he didn't like to see gay people kissing ? Anyways good to see him back. He's always around the ball.

Glad he is back, he will be an instant upgrade on special teams. Hopefully he is elated to be back also and not upset about leaving the Pats. Omar must be close to Jones, he rarely breaks a story. Abramson thinks Rose will be cut.

No, he was suspended for a bit but returned with the team. He was cut because we had more pressing issues at the time. Had the Pats not scooped him up I believe he would have been back sooner.
