Dolphins claim Taco Charlton

Didn’t have Taco or Harris as first round talents..nor Robert Nkemdiche, but to get two of them for free is worth a shot.

I am glad they keep kickin the tires on low risk high potential return transactions. If it fails, then no big deal. If you get a return, then it shortens the path to success.

Nothing to lose, although he's mainly a base 4-3 DE/pass rush specialist.

He looked like a solid, safe pick coming out of Michigan, high floor but questionable ceiling. Long, fluid athlete with good size. He had a terrible get-off from the tape i watched which negated his physical advantage.....and while he did show athleticism and turn the corner, he never consistently won or impacted a game. By the sounds of it, his issues in Dallas were work ethic and attitude. Kick the tires and see if being cut woke him up.....if not, cut him loose. With out roster, you look at EVERY young guy that had a high grade or has physical traits to work with.

Yep

And buried behind a guy that just got $90 mil

Gonna have a lot of bad days going against those 2 Dallas tackles and right guard

While true, Dlinemen need to be dogs, relentless - it's an war in those trenches and guys who aren't willing to restart the battle each time won't last.

This is where your scouting guys really make their money. Dig to see:
- which guys are leader at practice and in the weight room.
- which guys are known for having high motors or who other teammates hate going against
- who has the respect of their peers
- who is mentally tough and built for the grueling NFL game/season, when it's a business and you are easily replaceable.

Now the crazy taco eyes from Gase makes sense... he saw this coming

Taco was always a potential type prospect...maybe Dallas didn’t develop him... or maybe he’s not good enough....worth a shot!

Totally agree. Taco had opportunities he just didn’t make the most of them. And come year 3 they don’t care about your 1st round pick status any more. It’s **** or get off the pot time. Taco, jordan willis, and maybe Charles harris all finding that out.

Step up or step out

FWIW some interesting chatter on the Cowgirls form about Taco...

Apparently at least some believe his release was essentially personality driven.

Other pissed they got ZERO comp for such a high pick.

(HaHa Jerry "Botox" Jones ain't no Chris Grier!)

:woot:

I'm not familiar with this Taco variety but it seems he could find

a somewhat better place in our D scheme than he did in Dallas.

Imagine if he pulls off a QB strip fumble TD!

Botox Jones won't like that at all!
