Dolphins close to deal with 5th rounder Clemons

Hopefully they just continue to get them signed as fast as possible. Clemons was showing great signs and having him in for the entire camp will be very beneficial, as will Patrick Turner. Just make sure that Smith, Davis and White are all there ready to go too.

What are the pluses and negatives on Clemons? I know he has speed and is a good hitter

We are getten a hard hitting, leader, and best of all knows how to play S..he is also a ball hawk type saftey and loves to lay the wood on opposing players...:woot:

Man. That sounds nice. Why did he slip to the 5th round though..? Was he injured?

Labeled as a workout warrior. He had a total of 323tkls. in college but, is said not to play up to his measurables. Is said to have suspect hands, but I've always said that if a DB could catch he would be a WR. He is not the most physical safety.

clemons may have trpuble making the team depending on how many safties we carry

doubt it ... i think he will make it with ease, as long as hes not getting torched during training camp. i say we carry 4 and that wilson, bell, culver and clemons. That is of course if we dont pick anyone else up for the position then ill reconsider but as of now, hes in.

Negatives Sounds like it is concentration. He was not really on the draft radar like his teammate Hamlin from Clemson drafted by Dallas. Clemons really came on at the combine and his workouts for team. So maybe he is a bit lazy.

Positives is he was not injury prone in college like his teammate Hamlin, started 3 years played 4 years, he is very fast. In rookie minicamp according to the beat wrtiers etc he took command in the backfield and stood out. Have not heard as much about him in the OTA's since.

IMO see him making it on the roster according to how well he can play special teams. We need backup safties due to Bell's injury history. Hopefully he is a sleeper that just realized how to turn it late in college. It appears he fits the mold of a the LB 7th round Folsum and TE Naborne whom really did not stand out going into the draft but had good individual workouts. These picks could turn out to be V Golston pick like the Jet picked in the first round last year (workout warriors but no shows on the field) or be hidden gems or sleepers like a Kendall Lankford our 3rd round pick last year who appeared to be picked early in last years draft but was probably our most productive pick on the field outside of Jake Long.

No cause like poster below your said..Kinda a workout warrior but is aggresive saftey..oh and a great Roomate :hi5:..on a serious note just isnt a Ed Reed. S Taylor type so he got overlooked

He only really has to beat out Courtney Bryan. I think he easily makes it.

Im just saying if we decide to only carry three safties since he seems to be at best the 4th man. Esp if we keep Allen do we really need 4 safties?
