Gase said he remains confident in the 34-year-old Cutler, his quarterback in Chicago in 2015 when Gase was the Bears’ offensive coordinator, and added that it’s not Cutler who is making most of the mistakes on offense.
“I know where the ball is supposed to go, I know who’s supposed to do what on every play,” Gase said. “If we protect him and give him a second to throw the ball, we’ll be alright. If he’s going to get hit from start to finish, I don’t care who you put back there. We need to do a better job of protecting him, being where we’re supposed to be.”
Gase acknowledged Cutler has “footwork issues” to resolve as well as ball protection issues. But Gase said Cutler, who was sacked four times in Sunday’s 20-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints, must get better protection.

To many of us are blaming Cutler for everything wrong with this team, he isn't perfect, believe me...but Gase is right, you have to at least protect the man.

I think Cutler came here because he thought he could win here. He needs great protection and our OL sucks so you see how that is working out. I'd give him another game, 2 at the most before he completely checks out. If we're 1-4 here comes Matt Moore. Yah.

I still think we are the same team that played a lot of good Football last season. The difference is that Tannehill went down for the year and we tried to replace him with the so called perfect fit. The problem is the perfect fit guy had retired which is one way of saying I don't want to play anymore. That's what he looks like to me playing the game like a robot. I can't stand that crap, give me fire, passion and plain old love of the game and the competition. This guy is waltzing through games like he's doing lunch. Do you think the o-line will bleed for our 10 million dollar rent a QB while he drifts around like he's better than everyone else or some such garbage. Right now Cutler is looking like a massive mistake. It was a big gamble and I think we may have crapped out.

That fade throw in the end zone that led to an interception on the opening drive was such a shitty throw by Cutler. He had Thomas isolated on a shorter CB and has any easy TD if he throws back shoulder. Throws like that are why I feel Cutler has been a huge reason this offense is the worst in the NFL.

How is it possible for an OL to suck for over a decade? This Groundhog Day

Jay Cutler is an easy target. At the same time, he has played like a bottom tier quarterback so far. No way to sugar coat that.

I'm probably less patient than Adam Gase and I think I'd give Cutler about two more quarters to get things going. Miami has scored six points in two games. It's almost time for Matt Moore.
