Dolphins | Cobbs could get promoted for Week 12 game
Sat, 25 Nov 2006 11:26:58 -0800
Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown (hand) is out for the Week 12 game, leaving RBs Sammy Morris and Travis Minor as the only two running backs on the active roster. Head coach Nick Saban said the team would not play the Jacksonville Jaguars with just two running backs on the roster. RB Patrick Cobbs is on the practice squad and could get promoted for the game.

This means we either promote Cobbs or Nick is confident Brown will be ready and can play wearing a cast.....

If you watched Saban's PC today he noted that they will address the situation by either promoting Cobbs or even going out and signing a free agent. He mentioned Antowain Smith.

That is interesting. Smith can provide a good running game for us.

i would not mind smith

but man this sucks ronnie was really turning it on down the stretch, hope he can get ready for the patriots

Eh, big deal. How often do you see a new running back come in and be effective hin his first couple of games? By time a new guy gets used to what we're doing, Ronnie will be back. Besides, if you don't trust your backups, shouldn't you go get one before the starter is hurt?

I really think Sammy and Travis will be fine. Travis looked hungry on his runs vs. The lions.

The two of them can do the job.

A. Smith is a bum in my opinion Ice i dunno i guess it would be a nice combo, HIm and Morris but i wouldnt wanna sign him just for a short term because im pretty content with Minor and Morris!

Yeah, now thinking about it. Like I said above. I have confidence in Sammy and Travis.

Has nothing to do with trust. Both Morris and Minor play ST's. Odds are that Morris wouldn't play ST if he was the main RB. What if one of them gets hurt? Then we're down to one RB and one less player on ST's.

Yeah that makes sense. I see where it would make sense to add depth for a game or two, but it's not really anything to get excited about. It's not like any one new is going to come in and get 15 carries.

Now that im thinking about it if we can exscape Jacksonville with a victory next sunday maybe the rest Ronnie will get will really help him in the Patriots game the following week!!! Thoughts?

Maybe instead of Smith, let's see what Cobbs can offer.
It couldnt hurt, i am pretty confident In Minor and Morris! They dont have to do much, just make the Jags sum wut respect the running game!
I am feeling really confident in Joey, and the defense of course!

It is a home game too, hopefully we can keep the momentum going.
