Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi has a concussion and will be sidelined from practice.

The Dolphins confirmed the concussion today, after he experienced symptoms following a couple of hard hits on the practice field yesterday.

The collisions that led to Ajayi’s injury caused coach Adam Gase to face some questions about whether it’s wise to have such an important player taking hits in training camp. But Gase defended the decision to have full-contact practices, saying they’re an important part of getting players ready to play when the games count in September.

Ajayi is one of the Dolphins’ most important players, so keeping him healthy is an important priority. It seems unlikely that he’ll see full contact again any time soon.

Maaaannnn lets hope this is a one and doesn't go on through out the season. No way Gase doesn't feel kinda dumb about him getting concussed first day with pads :/

You're right, Gase doesn't regret it at all. Nor should he.
Agreed. It's a physical and dangerous game. These guys know what they're up against when they step on the field. Things like this are unfortunate, but it happens.

Hopefully this won't have an impact on Ajayi this season.........on and off the field.

McDonald must be pissed about his suspension. Ajayi took a ton of contact last season and never came close to getting a concussion, day 1 of full contact this off-season and McDonald lays the wood.

Or he could put skirts on them, play two hand touch. And have you and everyone else complain that the team started slow out of the gate.

Gase is right, "you`re not going to win either way." It`s football....let `em hit!

I think the argument is to have league wide rules instituted and enforced, so that the head is off limits in practice, and everyone has the same rust to start the preseason and regular season..

Eyes thru the hips, wrap and roll..

Hitting someone in the head is already off limits; many of these occur when a player is forced to the ground and bangs the back of their head. Just part of sports, it can happen at anytime. Let's hope the protocol helps Ajayi clear up and get back on the field without sacrificing his health.

Well at least this got the attention away from his knees.

Sounds like a "bell rung" concussion. Something every football player ever has had. Not worried.

Anyone know how long he's out?

If it is why is no one disciplining McDonald, like why is no one saying anything about the dirty shot?, why was there not a scrum?
