Donte Stallworth

After being convicted over nearly six months ago for a DUI/manslaughter, Stallworth's suspension was lifted and he was reinstated to the NFL shortly after the Super Bowl. The Cleveland Browns acted quickly and released him—had he remained on the roster through March 20th, the team would have owed him a $1 million contract bonus.

Stallworth worked out with the Detroit Lions this week, much to the excitement, and chagrin, of Lions fans. Some believe his checkered past is too much of a distraction for a team that doesn't need any more problems. Others believe the receiver's athleticism is a blessing in disguise and could provide the answer to replacing Detroit's wide out bust, Bryant Johnson.

Other teams, the Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, and New England Patriots, are also considering Stallworth.

It is from the bleacher report, but non the less it should be taken to account. The Fins have nothing to lose by signing him to a one year contract and seeing how he performs in TC. Worse that can happen is he is released and does not make the team and does not count against the cap cause there is not cap.

I'd prefer not to have a guy on our team that did what he did but at the end of it all we don't control what the Phins do. If he comes in and helps great, I guess.

What the guy did was wrong, but he did his time. The moment he scores a TD we will all be cheering for him. All Im saying is give him a try. We need more then WR in my opinion and we have seen what Stallworth can do when paired with another good WR.

Low Risk, High Reward Deal. Think about it.

They have respect to lose! Let some other blinded team sign him, it would be nice if people actually cared for character instead of talent all the time. There's tonnes of out there, there's no need to go after DS!

We dont need Stallworth. We dont need any average WRs. We have a fine supporting cast at the position. We need a #1. Stallworth is not a #1.

I'm sure he probably has a bad taste in his mouth from killing that guy last time he was here. The guy should be in a Miami jail not a Miami uniform.

I agree what Stallworth did was wrong. But, the victim ran in front of traffic/jaywalked. It is debatable whether he would been able to stop in time if he was not intoxicated. Regardless, he broke the law and did his time and I have no problem with him on the Phins.

Whether Stallworth is who we need to boost the WR core is a different debate and I am not sure he fits the bill.

I have a lot more confidence that Boldin can come in and be effective. The Dolphins really don't need a circus right now with the DWI witch hunt.

Stallworth did no time at all, he paid through his wallet. Regardless of his punishment, I don't see this team picking up Donte becuase of the incident, and especially since it hits close to home.

I do believe PFT stated he was working out with Detroit.

He did 24 days out of the 30 he was sentenced for.:bobdole:
