As Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas roared toward Cleveland Browns quarterback Charlie Frye last season, he had a split-second decision to make.
Hit him or avoid him.

''He released it real quick,'' Thomas said. ``But instead of getting a flag and going through him, I loosened up and caught my arm.
``I was done.''

Thomas, who was attempting to follow the NFL rules intended to protect quarterbacks, instead paid the price for his decision. A torn labrum caused him to miss the next two games, later leading to offseason surgery.

I think the rules are stupid, I mean you shouldnt be able to intentionally hurt a guy but come on

You cant hit him above the shoulders or below the knees or a second to late, come on I mean where do they draw the line?

You just give him a dress and some lipstick and that should get the message across.

You're right. I think the rules comittee forgets that the Qbs are football players too.

Why don't they just play touch football then. You can't just single out 1 position and say you can't hit them.
