No doubt. We should be top 3. Of course it's all based on health and or secondary play...but, we will definitely have a solid D.

Kinda makes you wonder what Jaws was thinking when he said Miami had the third best Defense in the AFC East.

We are one elite cornerback away from being better than all of them. For now, I'm not so sure until I see how the secondary shakes out. Top five, at least, though.

At least none of them went off message when choosing the best team in the AFC...how about a little non-Charger or Patriot creativity? I'm not saying they should choose the Dolphins...but there are 14 other teams. What a waste of reading time ESPN seems to be.

Mark Schlereth is a complete idiot in that article .. he picked the Chargers and the best offense and the Chargers as his best Defense but then he went and picked the Patriots as the best team ?????

uh ......... ok ... ... it get it ......... ummmmm ... no I DON'T .. idiot ..

Does Theeeesman ever stop slurping the Patriots lol. This is what I left on their page:

With as bad as Oakland's offense was last year, it was a testament to actually how good Raiders D was. Leaving them off is a serious oversight.
Schlereth, you must be a genius or something. How you can pick the Chargers as the best offense, Chargers as the best Defense, and then choose the Patriots as the best team, I'll never figure out I must not be smart enough. That is some fuzzy logic.
Or maybe Theeesman's slurp job on the Pats wasn't enough so he decided to hijack and change your vote.

The first comment did in fact point out that the Raiders should be in there.

I think we are top 3 in the NFL. We are better than New England and San Diego but I give Baltimore the edge on us just because they all work so well together. They really don't have a position on their D that they can upgrade.

the kevin carter loss hurts a lil bit but the peezy addition adds fire to our d
I don't think losing Carter hurts. Carter had 5.5 sacks as a full time starter and they guy we replaced him with had 3.5 sacks in limited time. Carter was over the hill, and Roth is an up and comer.

We have a good D and solid coaching in capers. Also we have had little disruption in personnel this year and can expect the young ones come on again. We have lost Carter, but gained Porter. I see no reason why defensively we shouldn't at least be as good as last year. If the O can start to produce that will only make our D even stronger. The defensive backfield is still an issue though, we still lack a quality CB IMO.

I definitely think we have a top 5 defense in the league. The only thing I'm really concerned about is the safety play. I love Bell but as far as the other guy's trying to act and pose like a fs, I just don't know. I think that is the obvious glaring need in my eyes. A real fs that can make qb's pay for making errant throws down the field.:kingcrowder:
