Defensive linemen Mario Williams, second from left, Earl Mitchell, center, and Cameron Wake (91), right, stretch during the Dolphins’ training camp practice in Davie on Friday.

Throughout the eight practices during training camp, the trend has been the same: the defensive ends, especially when they're aligned in the wide-nine formation, have been living in the backfield.
That's exactly what happened Saturday night in the Miami Dolphins' practice/scrimmage.
"It's just the mentality," defensive end Mario Williams said. "Whenever the lights come on, we've got to train ourselves to go out and just attack and not worry about anything, not worry about mistakes or messing up, just flying around."
The defensive ends accounted for at least five sacks.

Here's to hoping they live in the backfield all season!

Conversely it still is concerning how many sacks and pressure they got on our oline.
The oline probably won't gel until a few games into the season.

the reports have been that they aren't scheme sacks or missed assignments. guys are just flat out getting beat 1 on 1. people say give the OL time to gel as a unit. i'm not sure what that has to do with guys getting beat physically. like jason fox or dallas thomas last year. all the gel in the world wasn't going to keep them from getting abused physically. we have 1st rounders all over our OL, but we don't have talent.

Massive concern given our tackles are supposed to be the strength of the OL. Where's Dan Campbell to bring in the Oklahoma drill when needed?

The Defense looks like pissed of son's-of-Bitches, and the Offense is a bunch of happy-go-lucky Gumps. Maybe the coaches need to switch sides for a week.

A lot of positive statements from our new coach and his staff about how we're set with the OL and CB situation. Fan implications are, new coaching is going to increase mediocre players to being significantly more than we've seen the past several years. Fans are in the OK we'll buy it stage because of all the positive hype of our new coaching staff, but truthfully we haven't seen nothing yet and my gut feeling is we should have done more to fortify those areas.

We all want and hope that the staffs plans are correct but truthfully the closer we get the more questions are arising in my mind. But only first few months of the new staff and I don't have high expectations. Gase will need to grow into the position too and feel bottom line, were better off than we've been in years with these new guys. Just a little puzzled why we didn't upgrade a few more player and a little quizzy with the hype..

let's keep starting dallas thomas at guard though, that should help

Unfortunately finesse vs power and aggression.

Right. Philbin wanted no part of power; he wanted finesse. And of course, his finesse o-line was arguably the worst in the entire league... and that's with three 1st Rounders in Albert, Pouncey, and James. Gase must be high to think that he can get those weak Bozos to block anything. The entire line from last year should be replaced!!!!!!!

The talent is there though it's probably more a mental thing as to whether the likes of James, Pouncey and Thomas think they can over power and out maul their counterparts on a consistent basis.
