I prefer the draft. That a position you generally have to overpay in FA.

Agreed. The raw natural talent is easy to see and generally pretty quantifiable pre-draft. Guys that have the physical traits always get drafted high, and while many don't really pan out, it's quite rare to find one who slips through the cracks as a pass-rushing DE. And yes, you'll pay through the nose for a productive pass rusher and generally are paying for his best years which are behind him.

Then again, the Dolphins have one of the best histories of finding those guys. Randy Starks and Trace Armstrong were absolute steals as veteran pass rushers at DT and DE. So, at least there's hope for FA … but we're more likely to get Mario Williams when we go the FA route.
