Great Stuff!!! Love the insights on Formations, Tendencies, Personnel Groupings and Breakdown of Fronts. Cant wait to see how Graham, Flores and the rest of the defensive staff cater or tailor this defense to our roster. After watching the Staff interviews over the last few days, it feels like we will be more fluid with adjustments that work to our strengths. Graham in particular was very impressive. Loved the vibe he puts out there. As several other folks have posted in previous threads, this is guy that players would be willing to run through a wall for. The Leadership qualities of the staff that Brian Flores brought is dwarfs any of the past 3 regimes.... combined.

Excellent info, and breakdown.

Thanks for posting.

Looks like the highest # of snaps were in standard 4-2 nickel.

This is going to be interesting. Maybe we will be at the cutting edge for a change.

Kevin Dern offered up his expertise on the Dolphins defensive scheme. He charted some games, noted the various fronts the Pats ran under Flores, and tracked the pre-snap alignment of the defensive backs. You don't wanna miss this.

I'm optimistic about Flores ans staff. Yet, that is tempered by the unknowns. It's one thing to understand schemes/formations. It's another to use them effectively. I think Flores understands that, but I'll feel better October 1.

I appreciate the insight into the Patriots formations, but I am brought back to the fact that most of the previous colleagues of BB have little, if any, success once they leave the Pats org. Like I have always said, I think there is more going on in NE than just X's and O's.

I would be lying if I said it was of no concern.

I get the impression these guys are a different generation. Flores, for example didn't stay long at any one position. He moved through the organization, learning virtually every aspect of evaluation, and coaching. He had a purpose, and a plan.

I didn't get that Vibe from guys like Weiss, and certainly not Vrable.

Jury is still out on Patricia, but NOBODY succeeds in Motown.

At the end of the day it's all about getting the right players to run whatever the coaches want to run. Coaching matters a lot but you still need the players and you need to be open minded. BB has gotten plenty of players that he used for one year and then let them go. Here we got people telling us that Wake needs to end his career here just because. BB gets what he needs and if he can't get it anymore then he moves on and most of the time he gets picks in return for those players that leave. That's the key imo to have your team being good for that long. The GM/HC can NOT get attach to the players. NE would rather let a player go a year too early than a year too late.

This is excellent. I would say to play all those dbs we need more size up front. Both at lb and dline.

I’m sure that’s the plan of attack personnel wise this offseason.

I don’t necessarily think they look for a 34 olb body type fit. Might be able to use chase Allen for some of that ask.

Jonathon abram I like but I think he’s another mostly box strong safety ask fit. Does play smart and with good instincts.

Patrick Chung it’s wierd. I don’t think you could get away with his carry coverage in most schemes. So what do the pats do to limit the exposure? I’d say maybe play more dbs. It’s a head scratcher for me.

I’d watch out for Montez sweat has the length I know they’d like plays with more strength in his hands and pop in them than 245 would suggest and not hard to project another 10 plus lbs on that frame and has pretty good vision on the ball. Also I believe he might be the best multiple fronts fit option on the edge in our wheelhouse

The other guy should he get to us Ed Oliver. Heavy hands and gap disruptive as they come

With my limited knowledge those are 2 names that I would be excited with if not a QB

Also need a Dont’a Hightower ask fit. It’s not raekwon McMillan. Tremaine Edmunds would have been a boss fit in the 18 draft but in free agency should we decide to spend on some one id say anthony Barr might make a good fit. He’s instinctual he can rush on the edge vs tackles and he can stand up and run.

It would be a bit of a different ask than what he had with Minnesota but I think he’d give you that physical thump and his instincts would offset lack of reps rather quickly.

But he will be costly

With McMillan here they may give him a year realize he can’t impact the qb as a pass rusher on the edge and then try and fill it down the line

Thanks for that in-depth analysis! Well done, great stuff!

I love the fits you've identified for the Dolphins, but I think in time we'll get an additional NT and edge rushers, as well as coverage DB's. It will also be a welcome change to play Reshad Jones as a SS full time. I'm curious to see Fitzpatrick in this scheme though, because while I see his best usage as a FS, this system really features his a role closer to the LoS like how he was featured in Alabama.

the problems w dolphins defense in past is when they play good, we know but when they play bad we know. the X factory is the offense never help defense when they are playing bad or poor. bottom line is defense have to show up every week. if dolphins want win game. kc, ne, pit don't have to play great defense every week to win.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us go DB in the draft. Still glad we signed Fitzpatrick. Gonna need him.
