A secondary is only as good as the pressure that's applied to the quarterback. If a quarterback has less than five Mississippi's to throw the ball most cornerbacks are going to be pretty effective shutting a receiver down because the quarterback is going to be rushing his passes, throwing off his back-foot, guessing breaks, and checking down to dump-off passes.

The Dolphins have to strengthen the front seven before they can begin building the back four, and I believe you will agree that's what the Bill Parcells trifecta is doing.

CORNERBACKS
Will Allen (starter), Michael Lehan (signing not official yet?), Andre' Goodman, Jereme Perry, Joey Thomas

PROJECTION: There clearly needs to be an infusion of young talent here. It's safe to conclude Allen had a productive season when you breakdown the film. When Yeremiah Bell went down he became the blitzing nickel, putting additional pressure on the quarterback. He was pretty good at it too, which means he might stay in that role. It doesn't hurt that he'll be playing for his old Syracuse coaches. That means the Dolphins need to find two good cornerbacks to work the boundary. I've heard Goodman was good in 2006, but he didn't show it in 2007. I suspect his shoulder issues had a lot to do with it. I'll allow a do-over. Perry and Thomas are here for their special teams play, but don't be surprised if the Dolphins add a couple of cornerbacks through the draft and free agency. The Dolphins clearly need more bodies here.

i dissagree, go run defense with the front 3. make due wiht the blitzing olbs we have and strenghthen that secondary. who is available in fa- olb, who gets the big bucks and are very hard to come by cbs

I know Travis Daniels is listed at Safety but he is still a CB. Will allen and Lehan are good and will probably start with Goodman showing up again after a good healing.

I agree you first need to solify the front 7. If you can't stop the run or put pressure on QB it doesn't matter how good your secondary is. Once you have guys up front laid out you can worry about building the back.

That said, if a stud CB is available you do not say no to that. Those are hard to find. With all the multi-receiver sets in NFL now you can never have enough cover guys.

hey guys any ideas of guys we might be able to pick up in fa for the secondary that could help us out?

Travis Daniels is not physical enough to play safety. He was pushed around back there last year.

Daniels won't make it as a corner either.

Safe bet he will be gone!

I think Giants showed everybody that if you have a great front sven, it makes secondey's job MUCH more easier.

what about Ty Law if he came cheap i wouldn't mind taking a run at him, i think he still has something left in the tank, and i would also like Eugine Wilson

great question, but with the team we have now. we can see this is going to take some time .take your pick-front 7-secondary-o line-qb-wide out-tight end -sp teams lol.i dont know if there is a wrong answer.
