One common thread that virtually all contending teams possess is the ability to win ugly games against teams that they should handle easily. Remember how many times the New England Patriots had to scramble from behind to win late against subpar opposition during their Super Bowl runs? And if you want to advance more into the past, think back to those San Francisco 49ers dynasty teams that seemed to routinely come back to pull out victories on those rare Sundays when they were off their game. These are just two glaring examples, but they highlight a trait that is almost always present on top-tier NFL squads.

On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins most certainly exhibited that trait.
