The good: A fixture on a talented line the past four seasons, Mormino has started at guard and center. He moves well within a short range, can be effective in traps and short pulls and plays with a mean streak. He’s a good run blocker who elevated his stock at the North-South Classic by showing a nice combination of quickness and power. He’s an aggressive blocker who plays to the whistle and usually contains an opponent once he locks on to him. In pass protection, he usually anchors well against a bull rush.
The bad: He can struggle to pull and get outside to lead runners on sweeps because of his marginal speed. As a pass blocker he gets straight-legged at times. He can have problems with stunts and needs to recognize schemes quicker.
Outlook: Some scouts think he may be a stopgap starter as a pro. His competitive nature and toughness are among his best assets. He’s a marginal draft pick, but has the components to continue to make progress. With improved technique he has the package to make a roster.
