Sealing the deal: Here are Dolphins’ 10 all-time best trades involving draft picks
The Dolphins are no strangers to swapping draft picks. Already this year, they have slid down from No. 8 to No. 13 via a trade with Philadelphia, also picking up CB Byron Maxwell and LB Kiko Alonso.
While it’s too early to say who won that deal, here’s a look back on the Top 10 trades involving draft picks in Dolphins history.
1. Don Shula (1971)
OK, so this wasn’t a trade made entirely by choice, but so what? The NFL determined that the Dolphins tampered with then-Colts coach Shula so they were forced to cough up their top pick in 1970 to Baltimore. The Colts ended up with RB Don McCauley. Enough said.
2. WR Paul Warfield (1970)
The Dolphins essentially rented this Hall of Fame receiver for five seasons from his beloved Browns. All it cost Miami was QB Mike Phipps, whom Cleveland took third overall in ’70.
