No Damaryius Thomas?

Good list, I will catch up on it later, heading out of the office for the day.

what's the infatuation with damian williams??? if i was looking for that kind of finesse player the guy who stands out to me is mardy gilyard...

you're also missing austen lane ryan matthews aj edds

Nice list. I wouldnt be surprised at all to see a couple of those OLB & ILB in Dolphin uniforms. Seems like the last two drafts Ireland has targeted a specific position to fill and spent multiple picks to make sure it was addressed. 3 DE's in 08, 2 CBs & 2 WR's in 09.

I am not a big fan of drafting a Running-Back this year not named CJ Spiller. Matthews will probably warrant a 2nd or 3rd Round Pick and I don't want Matthews there. Anthony Dixon I'd prefer to Matthews as well..

well i can understand taking dixon over him...dixons nice

i'd take matthews in a second over jimmy graham i can tell you that but i agree that matthews is likely 2nd round early 3rd at the latest as this stage

The players I really like in each Round are as follows...The bolds would be my 1st 4 picks in the draft. Dez Bryant gives us that #1 receiver we are looking for, Corey Wotton has tremendous size and would translate to a nice SOLB; Jimmy Graham has the size, can block, and wouldn't take long for him to unseat Fasano who is a pending Free-Agent, Dexter Davis gives us someone who can rotate with Cameron Wake @ WOLB. Wake is more of a pass rushing specialist and his salary is cap friendly. Draft Cam Thomas of North Carolina and Torrell Troup of Central Florida, Mike Tepper of California and Damion Fletcher with the rest of our picks. In free agency you tab a guy like Antonio Bryant and make a splash with a guy like Karlos Dansby. I'd keep Jason Taylor and Jason Ferguson around with one year deals and I would send Joey Porter packing. Keep JT and Fergm sign Dansby and Antonioe Bryant, release Porter and Gibril Wilson and draft like this....

Round 1
Dez Bryant
Dan Williams
Brandon Spikes

Round 2
Corey Wotton
Robert Johnson-S-Utah

Round 3
D'Anthony Smith-NT-LA. Tech
Jimmy Graham-TE-Miami
Jon Asamoah-OG-Illinois

Round 4
Dexter Davis-OLB-Arizona State

You go into the season with a roster that looks like this..

QB: Chad Henne/Pat White/ Tyler Thigpin
RB: Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams/ Lex Hilliard
FB: Loushaka Polite
TE: Jimmy Graham/ Joey Haynos/ Kory Sperry
WR: Dez Bryant/Davone Bess/Tedd Ginn
WR: Antonio Bryant/ Brian Hartline
LT: Jake Long/ Mike Tepper
LG: Justin Smiley
C: Jake Grove/Joe Berger
RG: Nate Garner/Donald Thomas
RT: Vernon Carey/Andrew Gardner
K: Dan Carpenter
P: Brandon Fields

DE: Randy Starks/Phil Merling
DE: Kendall Langford/ Tony McDaniel/Lionel Dotson
NT: Jason Ferguson/Paul Soliai/Cam Thomas/ Torrell Troup
SOLB: Corey Wootton/Jason Taylor
WOLB: Dexter Davis/Cameron Wake/ Charlie Anderson
ILB: Karlos Dansby
ILB: Channing Crowder
CB: Vontae Davis/Will Allen
CB: Sean Smith/Jason Allen
SS: Yeremiah Bell/Tyrone Culver
FS: Chris Clemons/ ?

We would need to sign a backup Free-Safety and a backup Inside Linebacker but man that team would be nice...Keeping Anthony Fasano around at a fair contract would be nice as well.

i think we should go ILB and FS right off the bat - regardless of the order. those are two glaring weaknesses that - when fixed - will make our defense 100% better. spikes or mcclain in the first is a no brainer IMO - both guys are thumpers that are perfect fits for our defense and will have fantastic NFL careers.

the FS position has absolutely killed us this year - we have to get someone in there that can cover first and foremost. berry and thomas are obviously the cream of the crop there - while berry will be gone thomas might be able to slip into the second for us. there is so much talent at that position this year - and since safety is typically the least prioritized position on D - i don't think thats too much of a stretch. i am also pretty high on allen and stuckey. there are a bunch of safeties this year that can cover and i wouldn't mind seeing on our roster next year.

tate is my favorite of the RB's. real physical, hard runner, good speed, solid technique - he seems like he'll make a nice transition into the NFL. i don't want a finesse guy in the backfield b/c that's not how our offense is built - nor do i think parcells will go for someone like that.

gresham and dickson are the only TE's (besides hernandez, of course, who this regime won't go for) i like of the bunch. i don't want to spend a first on gresham but would love to spend a 4th on dickson. he's a solid blocker and a threat in the passing game - he would be a welcome addition to replace freakin haynos.

the NT is the one that is the biggest question mark to me. there are some great prospects like williams, cody, and odrick that can be had early - but i think ILB and FS are more important at this point and need to be addressed earlier for the home run potential. the NT crop is damn deep this year - and i think we can get away with holding out and taking someone like thomas, udofia, or troup late. soliai has been decent albeit unspectacular and i know how parcells likes to wait until late for that position - so that's my lean.

WR is another question mark. i feel that getting someone like bryant is an absolute must in FA - b/c we don't how long a draft pick will take to develop and not having that consistent target will cripple henne's development. there are a few i like - but i wouldn't mind totally skipping that position. cam, bess, and hartline are fine complimentary players and the WR crop next year - with the likes of jones and green - is off the charts insane - so waiting isn't a terrible idea.

i hate the 3-4 OLB crop this year - which sucks b/c that is a need. guys like norwood and lang have some potential though.

my take at least.

I agree about the Free Safety position but it will be tough via draft and here is why..Eric Berry will be gone by the time we pick, Earl Thomas will be a reach. Will Morgan Burnett be there for us in Round 2? Doubtful. Robert Johnson from Utah is a guy who I think calls for a 2nd round selection now so I think that is a reach. Why don't we release Gibril Wilson and give his contract to OJ Atogwe? That is the most reasonable solution in my opinion. Nick Collins wouldn't be a bad option either.

i wouldn't mind otogwe or collins. definitely. but i have no idea why either the rams or packers would not resign those guys. they don't have people - that i am aware of - on their rosters to replace them and going into an uncapped year - wouldn't you do all you can to resign your most consistent contributors? i don't know enough about either one of those teams to say they will or won't be there - like if one of them is unhappy or whatever - but why not resign them? i'd take either one b/c both are good in coverage and we can worry about other positions come the draft - but i just don't understand why either of those guys would not be retained.

if we can't get one of them in FA the S position is stacked come draft. there are literally like 10 guys i wouldn't mind having - very rare. if we can agree berry and mays will be had in the first - why couldn't someone like thomas or burnett slip to the second? how often to 3 or 4 safeties go in the first round? that almost never happens. i see at least a decent probability of someone like thomas, allen, or burnett falling to the second - especially with all the D linemen that should be going in the first.

I dont get why people are so down on taylor mays. he was injured all his senior year and he didnt play well, but if you look at his sophmore and junior year, the guy is a beast. after his junior year everyone thought hed be a top 5 pick. look at the tape from the ohio state game and the illinois game of his junior year. he flat out dominated on those games. im not a scout or anything when it comes to evaluating talent, but im pretty good at recognizing players who are going to be stars and who are going to be busts in the nfl. taylor mays is going to be a star in the nfl. people were down on ray malauaga last year, look who he turns out. i think if mays is there when we pick, parcells will jump all over him. hed be my pick. i also wouldnt mind getting mclain or spikes.
