The Fins haven't much luck in the draft over the last 10 years or so. There have been a few bright spots, such as JT and Zach-- But for every one of those, there's 2 or 3 Jamar Fletchers and Eddie Moores. I got thinking about some of the players who have been passed up through the years, so I put together a list of the best we could have had. The criteria I used is that the player must still be active today and the player that the Fins chose instead, was either a bust or marginal at best. Below is a list by position, their draft slot, and the player that the Fins chose instead. I know that drafting is not an exact science, and no one has a crystal ball, but it's interesting what could have been…….

QB- Tom Brady- 199th pick- 2000 (Earnest Grant- 167th pick)
RB- Rudy Johnson- 94th pick- 2001 (Morlon Greenwood- 88th pick)
WR/TE- Anquan Boldin- 54nd pick- 2003 (Eddie Moore- 49th pick)
OL- Olin Kreutz- 64th pick- 1998 (Kenny Mixon- 49th pick)
DT- Kris Jenkins- 44th pick- 2001(Jamar Fletcher- 26th pick)
DE- Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila- 149th pick- 2000( Deon Dyer- 117th pick)
LB- Derrick Brooks- 28th pick- 1995 (Billy Milner- 25th pick)
S- Rodney Harrison- 145th pick- 1994 (Ronnie Woolfork- 112th pick)
CB- Asante Samuel- 120th pick- 2003 (Taylor Whitley- 87th pick)

I don't know what's more sad.... What we passed up, or what we picked instead.

how about picking up zach in the 5th, JT in the 3rd, madison also in the 3rd( i believe), marino with the next to last pick of the 1st round. mark clayton VERY LATE. etc

see where i'm going with this?

Considering every team passed on Brady about six times each, I'm not going to hold it against the Dolphins. Passing on Brees was a more realistic and egregious mistake. I think we made a huge mistake last year in not going after Marcus Mcneil harder.

We would have some sweet players on are squad.Granted not all of them would still be here but if we had that draft instead of the crapy drafts,i know that we would have won at least 1 title.

The last 3 drafts have been good,except...IMO-16th pick last year, and Toledo. We will see.

It's relatively pointless because you could make that case for most of the teams in the NFL. Hindsight is 20/20, and if we (or anyone else) would've known how good those players would be they would be they wouldn't have lasted as long as they did. It also does not take into account team needs at the time of the draft.

IMO, the only instances where something like that holds weight is if one of those players is on your short list when it comes time to pick (like Boldin-Moore or Fletcher-Brees). Many of those in your example aren't even in the same ballpark as to when they were picked.

I thought asante samuel went undrafted:confused:

Simply put, both! It's hurts no matter how you look at it! :boohoo:
