As the son of a preacher, Ernest Wilford grew up with a strong spiritual base.

Wilford said his Christian foundation and faith provide him the type of footing that helps put his recent struggles in perspective. That's why he said his disappointing debut with the Dolphins last season is a distant memory.

"The past is the past," Wilford said of last season when he caught only three passes in his least productive of five NFL seasons.

Wilford said he's wiped the slate clean and has been putting in the extra time needed to move his way up the depth chart. He plans to do whatever and play whatever — including tight end — to get on the field.

"I compete every day in practice. I work hard," Wilford said. "I do what the coaches ask and lay my head on the bed knowing that I gave 100 percent every week."

I really would like to know what his definition of "giving a 100%" is? Because if his 100% is what was last year, then he'll be looking for employment after TC.

Dude he was good with the Jags but i guess the MIAMI sceen ruined him .... Cant handle the heat get out...... Party but still play hard on game day....

Ernest, just make some plays.
You should be working harder than anyone else on this team.
So far you've been a huge disapointment.

can anyone give me an example of an H-back is it like the colts Dallas Clark

Chris Cooley, Itulla Milli, Chad Lewis. There was a guy for the Chargers...Bernstine or something like that which was probably the best example I know of.

ETA: Jim Jensen was also an example. It's a TE/FB hybrid for all intents and purposes, though, it's more in the philosiphy/use.

This is a fancy way to say, "you are over-priced, but we can't dump you without taking a cap hit, so we are going to try and make up a role for you to justify your existence".

apparently he doesn't compete hard enough in practice

my 2 cents ......
im all for this new ernest wilford , and word is coaches love his work ethic and locker room team player.
i hope he makes it whever they line him up

H-Back is sorta like saying a utiliy player. Chris Cooley is a classic example of an H-Back.

I played H-Back in high school and an H-Back can lineup all over the field: in the slot, as a FB, as a second TE, etc.

My guess is the coaches want to use his size to try and create mismatches, that is the primary use for an H-Back. They also usually don't have as much blocking responsiblites as a TE.
