The Dolphins-Falcons preseason game is being moved to Orlando -- but not for the reason most assumed.
Construction on the Dolphins' home stadium remains on track.
"The league asked us if we would move the game up there," Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel told the Herald. "As part of the Pro Bowl announcement, we agreed to do it."
Season-ticket holders will receive a full refund for the lost home game, scheduled for Aug. 25.
Some have reported that the Dolphins wanted to move the game because their half-billion dollar construction project won't be finished in time.
That was not the motivation, the Herald has learned, and construction is on schedule. Members of the South Florida media will get a chance to tour the currently unnamed stadium on Thursday.
Dolphins-Falcons will be held at the Camping World Stadium, formerly known as the Citrus Bowl, which has recently undergone a $207 million renovation of its own. The facility will also host the 2017 Pro Bowl, the league announced Wednesday.

I had a feeling this was going to happen. Regardless of how they are spinning it, this is a smart move with the construction timetable so brutal. I don't recall us playing in Orlando before, but maybe we have.

The 1972 Dolphins held a ticker tape parade down Orange ave.... Orlando used to be Phins country. So pumped!

bet ross loves that his first nationally televised game at home in forever in the preseason where he could unveil his new stadium upgrades has been moved to off site

I would much rather have the crappy 4th game vs the Titans in Orlando and be refunded for that one instead of losing out on the only preseason game worth going to :(

1995 preseason against Tampa at the former Citrus Bowl

The STH's must be thrilled at this turn of events, as now there is one less game where they'll be forced to shell out full price to watch backups. I'd be doing cartwheels lol.

This won't be Dolphins' first game in Orlando. Most recently, 9/25/95, Bucs 24, Dolphins 17 (preseason). Also vs. WASH 8/1/92.

This is the 3rd preseason game when the starters usually play into the 2nd half.

True, but it's still preseason... Any time you aren't forced to pay regular season prices for preseason football, it's a good thing.

Does anybody ever pay regular season price for preseason football? I've never heard of a such a thing.
