As you all know, our beloved Miami Dolphins are off to ATL to visit the Falcons tomorrow night. Chances are, our offense (and most likely several other offenses around the league) will suck. Not because we lack talent, or because we have a robot at QB, but because:

1. We've ran 12 practices this year.
2. We are learning a brand new playbook - most of which hasn't even been taught yet.
3. We will purposely be running the most 'vanilla' (God i hate that word) offense known to man.

It's going to be painful to watch.

When you sit down and start watching the game tomorrow night or its replay on Saturday please keep this in mind. I guess I'm being a bit of an optimist here hoping that there won't be any 'the sky is falling' threads if/when our offense struggles. But the fact of the matter is, the forums will probably be flooded with them.

Just keep this in mind - the year we went 1-15 under Cam Cam we were 2-2 in the preseason. I can assure you that the offense you will see tomorrow night will look nothing like the offense you will see in a months time.

Most of the people complaining will probably be noobies who only show up to the boards to complain about the Dolphins. Outside of that, better get out your check book to pay off the doom n gloomers. It never fails, not in preseason and certainly not in the regular season.

I've always thought the people that show up ONLY after games to ***** about the Fins should be perma-banned on spot. Kind of ruins the discussion boards for a day or two after every game. But hey, I'm not staff.

I dont care about the play calling, but I still need to see someone out there making a play of some kind.

Write down Nerf as one who'll be chiming in on the 'sky is falling' crowd. hehehe....

Seriously, the sky will not be falling if we don't do very well this game. Henne won't be cut if he has a bad game. I think we all will have to be extra patient with this team given the labor issues of the past 6 months and the tenuous nature of the staff here. Just like, if Henne has three drives for TDs, it won't mean that we can reserve spot in Canton for him. Patience has to be allowed for this team for now...

Those three reasons can be applied to many teams, and of course the first one is applied to all of them. We're supposedly ahead of some in that the players ran offseason practices, which some teams didn't.

I'm not trying to debate the general point (that the result within the game don't mean much in the general scheme of things) but you can't use arguments that many other teams can use. The Falcons ran limited practices too, they have new offensive personnel... similar reasoning.

Yup the playcalling will be as vanilla as vanilla can get.

Something you can pay attention to offensively:

QB
Is he hitting the open man? Since the PC will be vanilla, the QB's really should not be throwing it to a covered reciever or a certain spot in the field.
Is the QB holding the ball to long?
Thats about it.

WR/TE
Are they getting seperation?
Route Running
Catching Technique- Hands or body, body position etc..

RB
Do they dance behind the line?
Do they hit the open hole?
Do they have a second gear?
Can they make someone miss or run someone over?
Can they block a blitz?

TE-
Mentioned above but will add blocking here.

Hence the reason i said ' Chances are, our offense (and most likely several other offenses around the league) will suck'

I wanna see Henne just make good throws, which in itself could look bad because we never know what the play call is, who should have zigged instead of zagged, ball placement, etc. etc.

Like to see the OLine create a little space in the running game . . . want to see how they hold up in pass protection with Carey or Long not at OT.

If Henne doesn't throw for 200 yards in his limited appearance of probably 1 quarter, Finheaven will rage.

My point is that it's not just the offenses. The defenses are going to be rusty too. Schemes will be pretty vanilla as well.

Nothing you or I could do will ever stop people from being negative. It's something that will happen so long as this board exists.

Preseason we have to take a look at those that can help the team, regardless of position.

I never take anything I see in pre-season to heart. It's mostly about figuring out who to keep and who to cut anyway.

Honestly at this point just looking forward to seeing a bunch of guys wearing the Miami Dolphins Jersey at the same time. Yes I am pathetic I know.
