Dolphins fans finally have something to celebrate as the Dolphins put 41 point on the board during first half action against the Houston Texans during their NFL game Sunday Oct. 25, 2015, at Sun Life stadium in Miami Gardens. (Bill Ingram / The Palm Beach Post)

But how do Dolphins fans feel about the prospect of hosting a Super Bowl?

Well, let’s just say they care more about their team getting there.
“Like [we] care about Miami HOSTING a Super Bowl?” reader Seth Williams responded on Facebook. “How about putting together a team that can win one???????? THAT should be [the] priority.”
Much of the criticism is of Ross’ huge effort to bring a Super Bowl back to South Florida.
“Yeah, [Ross] has done everything to host a Super Bowl,” Joshua Beasley suggests. “Too bad he can’t find the right personnel to get the Fins to play in a Super Bowl.
Fellow commenter Ken Johnson agrees, saying that “Ross should be more concerned with his team instead of hosting Super Bowls.”
DolphinDave takes it a step further, arguing that “Ross doesn’t deserve a SB. He is arguably the WORST owner in the sports world. He hasn’t had ONE winning season ever! Terrible hires, celebrity ownership partners and the cheapest coaches money can buy have kept the once proud Dolphins in the cellar. Erecting a cheap tent instead of a sorely needed air-conditioned, retractable-domed stadium is just cutting corners. Pray for new ownership.
“Ross only cares about the enormous money he’d make from a SB,” he continued. “The Dolphins being terrible doesn’t really matter to him.”

Ross takes a lot of flack, but has been asked every year recently to open up the checkbook to win and acquire players. I know the past has produced a bunch of ass clowns, but he is helping in turning the corner. I do agree about half-assing the canopy. But he is paying for it himself. As for cheap coaches, they have made numerous attempts and been shot down. Harbaugh and Fisher come to mind. In my opinion if you want a dome stadium, then just get a brand new stadium then. Location wise, the stadium is in a perfect location for all there counties. I am not sure what surrounding land he owns

I would love to play AND host it the same year. Has that ever happened?

i think the same could be said by just about any team's fanbase

hosting one would be great for us locals though

The 49ers played Super Bowl 19 (against the Dolphins, of course ) at Stanford Stadium which was only a few miles from Candlestick Park. I think that's as close to a home field as a team has ever come.

I see the LA Rams played the Steelers in Super Bowl XIV at the Rose Bowl in 1979. Also a "close to home field" advantage.

Typical online argument. Ross has certainly put money into the team and into free agency. He hasn't sat on his hands and done jack squat. Sure the coaches he's had haven't panned out until this point but that's the biggest blemish he's responsible for.

It's the same as seeing Aaron Rodgers out on a fishing trip and fans commenting he needs to be on the field throwing to his new WRs or some lame ****.

Dolphins fans would rather see their team play in the Super Bowl than host one that does not have the Dolphins in it. In other news, the sky is still blue and the earth is still round. Duh! We needed an article in the Palm Beach Post to tell us this?

A true Dolphins fan would rather see the Dolphins play in a Super Bowl that they were hosting

A cheap tent? That's not a tent they're putting. It also helps with the home field advantage of keeping our team in the shade and the visiting team in the sun. I, for one, am damn excited to see what the finished product will look like. This is just more off-season, click bait nonsense. OF COURSE every team would rather play in the SB. This is just plain stupid.

Don't be so upset. Their alternative article was whether Dolphin fans would rather host or play in an NBA Finals .... because that's their focus these days.

South Florida has made its bid. Rodney Barreto: "We hit it out of the park."

Csonka said he was surprisingly nervous. "Maybe I needed to hit something first."

We're inside the host committee's war room. Now it's time to wait for a decision.@AdamHBeasley
