Ex-Miami Hurricanes cornerback Dee Delaney will get another chance to catch on with the Dolphins — and his odds of sticking seem to be better this time around.

Delaney signed a futures contract with the team Friday, suggesting he will, at the very least, get to go through spring ball with the team.

And given the uncertainty of the team’s roster this year, he will likely get a real chance to make the Dolphins’ opening day roster. It’s been well established that the Dolphins are hitting the reset button this season, going with young and cheap players over old and expensive.

The Utah State guy is better so it made sense to release Delaney late to keep Jalen Davis. But given our plans for 2019, resigning Delaney is a good move.

Everyone who is dire regarding our cornerback situation other than Howard is ignoring Jalen Davis. He has more scrappiness and upside than more familiar names like Tankersley and Lippett.

I really liked the kid predraft Awsi..

“ This kid Jalen Davis is intriguing..I don’t know man, undrafted free agent corners don’t look like that when they play, this kid is too smart, and too instinctive to not be drafted.”

“ Tell you what, talk about being calm and quick and smart as you play defense, from the reps I looked at it really looked like the game had slowed down and he was just playing effortlessly.. He was reading it nicely, small sample size though.”

I think we saw the flashes in the last two games.

I remember just being like, how the hell did this kid not get drafted..

I thought he was going to get drafted...

Utah State is producing some NFL players....

Armstrong was a liability in coverage often. I hope we sign a veteran CB.

I think alot of us like Davis, but more as a slot corner, which still leaves a huge void at CB2 - unless you think Davis can play boundary?

I know McCain can’t so.

We ponied up good $ for McClain to play slot. Let him play slot. Davis is quick, and scrappy. Not sure he can hold up against the bigger WRs.

I don’t think Davis can play outside as a Cb2.. backup slot to McCain - ST and maybe some time on D when we have extra DB’s on the filed - that’s what I would expect his role will be next year. Armstrong fits somehow also probably.

Backup slot, spot duty

I can see that. He costs next to nothing.

And davis, with all his God given gifts was never given a real shot in adam gase style. This is the biggest reason i wanted gase gone because he couldn't read the talent on the team and guys didnt get their chance until injuries set in. Jalen Davis needs to be on the field. He brought more natural gifts than any other cb on the roster outside of X. But gase just couldnt or would recognise talent or in giseckies case, his talents were scrapped to make him something he was not.

Giseckie has big talent and ability but gase just didnt know how to use it (like the rest of his other wordly offense). Look for giseckie to be our 2019 break out player on offense. (Fitzpatrick on defense).
