Dolphins GM Chris Grier knows 'everybody wants us all fired'

As much as people hate the '19-'21 Flores tank/rebuild which left the offense entirely void of talent...

And as much as people seem to (now) hate the '22-'23 surge which saw a multitude of big additions...

...I have to admit, I kind of like where we went in '24 in FA and the Draft: Jordyn Brooks, Jonnu Smith, Aaron Brewer, Chop Robinson, Patrick Paul, Malik Washington, Jaylen Wright, etc.

The pendulum seemed to finally find the middle way and we've continued to do similar things in '25. The only knock last year was the (lack of) activity at LG and RG in free agency, but hey, we did find a Center and we seem to have picked up at least one good Guard already in '25!

I was also highly impressed with the job that Anthony Weaver did last year. I think finding a solid, stable DC is a huge improvement for a team that's burned through Flores, Boyer and Fangio in the 3 years prior. Some continuity would be great!

In summary, the last 1.5 years have been mid-size additions based on value-adders in FA and solid drafting using what picks we have (rather than trading them away). We added talent in FA that over-achieved and we managed to extend the players we wanted to keep like Sieler, Waddle and Ajax.

I'm not going to criticize what is essentially good work.

To that end, I really don't care who's making decisions if they're the right decisions. Perhaps the team is learning? If we continue doing in '25 draft what we started doing last year, I'm honestly fine with it.

Our FA additions were solid and the upcoming Draft aligns well with our needs. If Tua can keep himself upright in '25, the Dolphins are probably competing for a Playoff spot and we may even break free of some of these veterans who are bigger than the team, too.

The bottom line for me is that if we start building from within and God forbid solidify the trenches, this is a team I can root for.

If we improve the OL and go into '25 strong at the TE and RB positions, I can easily get on board with that!

I respectfully disagree. I feel the team went backwards last year, and is trending that way again this year

Thats good! I know for sure he reads the message boards on here. lol

Has nothing to do with him reading message boards. I doubt seriously he does. I am sure there is someone that does and reports the feel of the fans. I am sure he gets reports from media. he may listen to a pod cast now and then. It's not like it's a great secret that the fan base wants him gone...

I think someone has to be incredibly stupid to see that post and think, 'yeah, that totally sums up the last 3 years.'

For instance, looking at Tyreek as a player independent of everything around him rather than an investment in a newly-acquired HC/OC who was (clearly) brought in the help set the QB on his feet after a disastrous relationship with the prior HC/DC fails to provide any explanation as to the context in which things were done.

You really can't listen to fans. They paint in black and white. They cheer for Tyreek in '22 and then decry the fact he's on the team in '24.

You have to think for yourself.

If everyone is moving one way, it's often helpful to evaluate what the alternative is. This fanbase wanted to tank. That turned out to be a bad idea. Many supported the idea of mortgaging everything to find/empower the QB. That turned out to be a bad idea.

You show me what Twitter wants and I'll take the opposite.

Reactionary-ism is what creates the 3-year turnover cycle. You can hold Grier accountable, okay, but promise me you'll fire the fans who supported all the stuff he did along the way, because they signed up for it at every turn.

Certainly don't come to me and use the fans as evidence that Grier needs to go. The fans and Grier are far too often in lock step. They loved the way the team was constructed in '22 and '23, calling it '...the most talented team in the NFL outside of QB.'
