Historically Miami has had some great corners. Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain immediately come to mind but so does Jamar Fletcher and Jamar Taylor. Maybe Miami shouldn’t draft corners named Jamar.

The rest of the last decade:
2016-Xavien Howard- Has had two kneel surgeries-one more he's done. God help us!

2015 - Bobby McCain

2015- Cendric Thompson

2014- Wa/t Aikens

2013- Jamar Taylor

2013-Don Jones

2013-Will Davis

2011 – Jimmy Wilson – 7th round

2010 – Nolan Carroll – 5th round: Has had a pretty good career after leaving the Dolphins

2009 – Vontae Davis – 1st round: Traded to Colts

Sean Smith – 2nd round: Allowed to leave via FA to KC

Chris Clemons – 5th round

2006 – Jason Allen – 1st round: did not come close to expectations

2005 – Travis Daniels – 4th round

2004 – Will Poole – 4th round

2002 – Omare Lowe – 5th round

2001 – Jamar Fletcher – 1st round

Dolphins have been really bad at drafting.

This more than anything.

Vontae Davis is / was a good player. I think he's slowed down some but I always loved the guy. Sean Smith's career really took off when he left here. I still don't think he is as good as regarded (still soft) but decent. Nolan Carroll developed into an okay player, good depth.

Unfortunately you can say that about a lot of positions for Miami the last twenty years. When was the last time the team took a good linebacker? I'm not sure Koa Misi qualifies, but he's the closest. When the last time the team drafted a good defensive lineman? Jared Odrick I suppose.

You look at the misses over the last 20 years or so and you can see why the Dolphins have been struggling. It does seem like the team has turned it around the last few drafts, though.

Here's an unfortunate list of players Miami could have had over the last 20 years or so. Every team has misses, but when you miss this badly you end up being a bad team for a long time. The other aspect of missing is that it means other teams benefitted from the talent you didn't draft.

Ray Lewis --- Jimmy Johnson took Darryl Gardener
Randy Moss --- Johnson traded out of R1 and took John Avery
Aaron Rodgers --- Took Ronnie Brown
Matt Ryan --- Took Jake Long
Drew Brees --- Took Jamar Fletcher
Vince Wilfork --- Took Vernon Carey
Rob Gronkowski --- Took Koa Misi
Antwan Boldin --- Eddie Moore

The worst cornerback we've had in the last 20 years (and maybe ever) was Reggie Howard. Anyone remember him? I know we didn't draft him, he was a free agent, but damn he sucked. He still owes me a TV remote from the one I threw across the room during the 2005 Chiefs game.

Also, Travis Daniels was solid. No need to put him on this list. He was pretty good for a 4th rounder.

We've also had lots of regime changes...And when a new coaching staff comes it seems they are reluctant to develop players from the previous regime...They want to draft and develop their own draft picks.

Also, you have no idea that Xavien Howard has "one more surgery and then he's done." That's just bull****.

Chris Clemons was a safety. Jason Allen was a safety. Anything past a 4th or 5th round pick are irrelevant.

Xavien Howard...first year starter and made a solid impact
Tony Lippett...converted receiver and made huge improvements and started some games.

Again, the only guys that really deserve to be on this list are Jamar Fletcher, Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, and Jamar Taylor. The rest are late round picks that you can't really say "what a bust!" because who really expects much out of guys after the third round?

and of those - sean smith was a decent starter and then traded and vontae smith was obviously a good player we couldn't capitalize on

I didn't know there was a "3 strike" rule on knees...

one more and he is out... of a job.

Our drafting has been atrocious for years. It baffles me that new coaches and regimes have come and gone, yet we stay with the same scouts and other members who have only been part of making this a losing franchise.

We definitely need better scouting across the board.

Jamar Taylor looked good to me last night. Why did we let him get away? Not to mention Jabrill Peppers who obviously can do it all.

Damn this hurts! Ronnie Brown and Avery...geesh!

Moss was right there for us to have...

All due respect, a majority of those players were drafted round 5 or later. Low expectations to begin with. Most of the early rounders became decent starters or good depth. A case could be made that Davis was actually a good starter, and I wouldn't argue
