“I think he’s a guy that hasn’t really had a lot of opportunities this year,” head coach Adam Gase said of Anthony on Thursday. “When you get this late in the season and you’ve got a guy that’s really, pretty much, been fresh and waiting for his opportunity, I think you’re seeing a guy that plays with a lot of energy and he’s played before.”

Anthony has recorded six tackles this season, and has been used in coverage on running backs and tight ends, as a blitzer, and in run support. He has even matched up with receivers in the slot. Anthony’s speed and athleticism makes him an intriguing piece for the Dolphins going forward.

“He [doesn’t have] that many years in the league, but he’s had a season where he was productive, and I think he’s excited to be out there,” Gase said of Anthony.

I can tell that he adds some speed to the LB group. He does not flash, but I continue to see him with tight coverage. He improves the squad.

My god if we could find a LB that has speed and can cover both lb's and rb's we would imprive drastically. Thats been our Achilles heel on defense for YEARS. Offense its the o-line. Defense its covering the middle of the field. Both are pretty much mandatory to be decent at to have any shot of going far. I know who I'll be watching a lot this week. Him, xavien and cordrea.

It's so crazy that you mentioned that and honestly, when I saw that blurrrr on my screen towards the ball tackler I didn't quite know what i saw. Yes! It's been that long since we've seen anything that resembled speed at the LB position.

Hopefully, the 1st round draft pick comes back healthier and Anthony can get one of the full time spot next season.

I would love for us to draft another kid early in the draft to solidify and round-out that group to go along with the young secondary.

Anthony seems to be the type of player that can be effective as long as he doesn't have to diagnose the big picture. Assign him in man coverage or send him on the blitz and he's really good. I don't see him as a full time LB in the base package because I believe teams will figure out how to exploit his lack of awareness.

Man if Anthony can be a pretty good player I'd be stoked specially at that position. For as tough as this year has been it could turn out to be quite a year at picking up young talent. The draft looks promising, Brendal, Anthony, Jessy Davis, maybe the smith kid whose on ir. Even the DE that got called up last wk looked good

Total agreement. I'd look very early rounds for that total package at linebacker. There are a few in this draft.

definitely. I like McMillan and think he will come back strong, but you cant bank on a player thats never played. You draft another good LB and be happy.

If Anthony figures the pro game out mentally, then we got a steal. Didn't happen for him in NO. Physical talent is all there.

Roquan Smith in round 1 would be nice. Then the team can either double up with a linebacker in round two, or start finding some offensive pieces like a guard or tight end.

You want a first round lb you better hope they don’t like Anthony as a plan a.

Cause they gonna bank on Kiko and Raekwon in 2018.

I think what I would do is invest one of those 3rd or 4th rounders in a 2 down thumper 2 deep mike option that fits the scheme size wise like a Micah kizer. Chase Allen is horrid at mike and mike hull ditto. Need McMillan insurance

If they like Anthony as a 2018 nickel they won’t be adding a high pick athlete lb.

Kizer is basically all tackle to tackle lacks serious range but he thumps and he’s good at the poa and the athlete and speed will keep him on the board until late day 2 or even early day 3

I’d be surprised to see him on the board in the 5th given he’s nfl ready for contact

And he’s as classy a kid and would be great in the locker room as they come

I agree with this. It’s all between the ears. They’ve done a good job though of limiting the exposure with what they have asked him to do to date.

In a Jim Bates type defense that relies more fundamentally sound 4-3 pro style principals mixed with speed and athleticism. I think Anthony could really be a solid 3 down player.

I love how we seem to acquire a lot of players who have low football I.Q.. Nothing like having to dumb things down like we have a bunch of 4 year-olds on our team.
