Dolphins Hire Bobby Slowik for OC

Completely, they basically ****ed up the oline, didnt improve anything on offense outside of weapons, which didnt matter as there oline was ass.. and he took the fall for it
That and the defensive coordinators had a year of tape in the Texican system to find strengths and weakness' to exploit. That to me can not be overstated. DC's get paid a lot to figure these things out. Look at Tua. He went from the penthouse to theouthouse fairly rapidly, sure there were other issues, but DC's not having to defend the whole field was the 'tell' on Tua. I'm sure they did the same for Stroud. Look at the last playoff game for them.

Well with us, people figured out our oline sucks.. so slow down the game/ limit the field.. make him hold the ball. sure in part to him not being very mobile, but most of the issue was they exploited the oline.. and this has happened to many teams, and a statement to how you cannot cheap out on oline.

Dolphins better find a pro bowl QB
I hope the opposite--that Miami learns how to use 1A QBs somewhat interchangeably (and at far less than QB1 prices) with a superior team around them. That strikes me as far more attainable and sustainable.

Stupid as Hell to not cut Ingold, how about take that 3.4 million cap saving and put it towards retaining Dulcich's services?
I don't know enough about what Ingold does to deem him dispensable. Do feel like other players should get a chance to try out as part time FBs. Thinking Julian Hill and Ken Grant.

Not at that price, he should rarely get off the field. I like the guy a lot he is a team captain, but I'm cutting him and running 22 and 12 personnel with Ollie Gordan instead. At least we'd also have a receiving threat as well out of the position and have a fb that can go in motion like kyle juszczyk does for the 49ners a lot.

“Superior team around them” is always the goal, but hardly easy to do. But you can do it just about as easily with a great QB as with a mediocre one if one doesn’t intend to use FA as a major source of key player acquisitions. Especially if the QB is on a rookie contract or deal like Willis will get, which will be big but pretty moderate compared to established elite QBs.

It's a lot harder to field a superior roster when the QB is eating a quarter of the cap. You can have a great QB on a rookie deal (but bear in mind it could take multiple first round picks to acquire one) or an adequate QB at the going rate (and use the draft capital to stock rookie deal guys at other positions) and still be able to retain quality depth across the rest of the roster. But once you have a QB on a tier 1 contract you are cooked trying to keep the rest of a good roster together.

The randomness and uncertainty of finding an elite QB and then the financial handicap associated with keeping one makes me want us to approach team building with the idea of not needing an elite QB.

The quarter of the cap contracts are the huge ones and there is no pathway for the Dolphins to get another one (other than Tua) anytime soon. Willis will cost a lot less than that. Time will tell if he can become elite. But the goal should be to get an elite QB as winning big without one is definitely not easy. So like I said, the Dolphins should try to build the best team it can but that team will be far better with an elite QB than a non-elite one.

Speaking of offensive coordinators, Sean Payton fired his today. Despite the fact that Payton calls the plays and Payton made the blunders that cost the broncos the AFCCG.
He was there 3 years which is quite a long tenure for an OC. After 2 years they either get a HC job somewhere or they are moved on. Expect similar situation to happen here. Bottom line, don't get too attached to you coordinators.
