Dolphins Host Free Agent CB

March 4, 2009

The Miami Dolphins today played host to free agent cornerback Eric Green. A four-year veteran with the Arizona Cardinals, Green has played in 51 games with 33 starts. The 5-11, 196-pound cornerback has career totals of 30 passes defensed and two interceptions.

Green was selected by the Cardinals in the third round (75th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He saw action in 12 games at cornerback as a rookie, making five starts.

A native of Clewiston, Fla., Green attended Virginia Tech and appeared in 47 games with the Hokies. He registered 143 tackles (91 solos) with 5.5 stops for losses of 39 yards, three forced fumbles, four blocked kicks and 25 pass deflections. Green also had eight interceptions for 264 return yards with two touchdowns. He started every game at cornerback as a senior and won the President’s Award for leadership. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Retail Property.

I hope we didn't let Goody go for this.

if you think they consider this a Goodman replacement then you are really out of the loop

we willl draft Goodman's replacement and pay alot less for a better player

Comment: Green is a four-year veteran who the Cardinals drafted in the third round of the 2005 draft. He has excellent size, speed and athleticism for the position. He is smooth, explosive and can extend the cushion with his pedal and transition to close on the ball in front of him or to the sides. He has fluid hips which he can flip to turn and run with receivers deep and he has a burst to catch up when receivers get a step on him. His biggest issues are his lack of concentration and lapses of techniques. He tends to gamble and can get out of position, overestimating his ability to make the play. He has average ball skills when he can get in the area and has just one interception in his first three years, that coming his rookie season. He is not timid about getting involved, but could be more physical in run support. He pretty much needs to be 100 percent healthy to play effectively and could be tougher, mentally.

Geen can play Nickle and Jones can slide to Dime. Guys Allen maybe can slide as the second CB with a storng camp. Bowles is a real good coach and before the hand injury it seem like Allen was finally take a hold of things.

Not out of the loop. We need a veteran CB to start. A rookie CB has never worked out for us. ie Jamar Fletcher, Omare Lowe, Travis Daniels to name but a few. Even Madison and Surtain did nothing their rookie seasons. Greens numbers are no better than Goodman's. In fact in the 3 seasons Goody was here his numbers are better than Greens.

I actually liked Green a lot coming out of VT, but he has been a major disappointment ever since coming into the league. He's been burnt like toast every time the Cards attempted to start him.

Thanks, but no thanks Eric. Let's draft a couple of corners.

Its a visit and Bowle is a real good coach and maybe work a miracle ala Goodman. Shoot who ever though Nathan Jones was gonna be a good corner, let alone Goodman was gonna have 5 INTs. Is it just me or does Parcells love VT guys.

Nathan Jones was a terrible corner. Every time he was on someone one on one he got buuurned bad.

Honestly everyone this post season acts like Goody was good for us the entire time. He wasn't. He came into his own during the latter half of the season 08'. Until then he couldn't get a positive comment on here to save his life. I am curious to see what they can do with Green IF they sign him.

It's not just you. Says a lot about Beamer and the program he runs.

Comment: Green is a four-year veteran who the Cardinals mistakenly drafted in the third round of the 2005 draft. He has excellent size, speed and athleticism for the position, but somehow still manages to suck. He is smooth, explosive and can extend the cushion with his pedal and transition to close on the ball in front of him or to the sides, so why can't he produce. He has fluid hips which he can flip to turn and run with receivers deep and he has a burst to catch up when receivers get a step on him, and yet receivers still feast on him. His biggest issues are his lack of concentration and lapses of techniques. He tends to gamble and can get out of position, overestimating his ability to make the play. He has average ball skills when he can get in the area and has just one interception in his first three years, that coming his rookie season. All the talent out there at corner and we are bringing in the 3rd string LCB from the cardinals?!?!?! This is ridiculous what a waste of a plane ticket!!!
