Jenkins is a beast and maybe the Jest's best FA signing. However, as I'm typing this it's 98 degrees out on the patio and the steady pounding by R,R,P &L in So Florida heat hopefully will wear this poorly conditioned big lummox out by the 3rd quarter

Jake Grove had a great game against Jenkins last year.. Shut him down while the Raiders ran the ball all over the Jets defense.. They had over 150 yards rushing on them.

And that was in week 7 before Jenkins' bad back starting acting up a few weeks later (around week 12).

Greyboy, thank you!
Grove played the entire AFC east last year when he was on the raiders......our FO did their homework on this guy and that's exactly why we signed him from the radiers. He knows what he is up against.....seems like Grove is "country boy strong" and i like it.

Someone here put up a play-by-play analysis on Grove versus Kris Jenkins right after we signed Grove. Whoever it was had the gametape of the Raiders-Jets game last season and posted every play on the board.... And Grove won a great majority of the battles against Jenkins in that game.

Omar for once is right, Grove needs to earn his paycheck this week. This is exactly the reason we signed him and traded Satele.

Last I checked Jake was the top or one of the top centers playing right now and Samson Satele wasn't even able to crack the starting lineup for the raiders. Lets not also forget that we are currently the #1 rushing offense in the league. Both of those are pretty good berometer's for calling Jake an upgrade over Satele.

Having Jake Grove and Donald Thomas on the interior line has made a huge difference.

Too bad we had Alleman, Satele and Ndukwe at the 3 interior line positions against Baltimore... There's a reason why all 3 guys were traded away for peanuts since that playoff game.

Because that's exactly how they played-- like peanuts.

we traded for Jenkins

Where do you get your info?

McFadden and Fargas ran the ball 36 times for 113 yards and a 3.1 YPC

This is another case of just looking at the boxscore. On 2 other runs Oak had 40 yards BUT one was an end around and one was a fake punt.

Any way you want to break this down....grove has not given up a sack, hasn't been called for a penalty and has allowed us to run the ball well....saying he's not an upgrade over Satele would be stupid.

As far as him against a NT...this will be the first time we see it really. I'm guessing the FO targeted him for a reason and according to the guys who break down #'s he did well last yr against AFC E. NT's.....we'll see if we were right

Oh, and just for sh*ts and giggles, here's another one:

Grove got an "A grade" against Jenkins one-on-one.

Oakland Raiders 16 – New York Jets 13: Game Grades

Jake Grove: Played possibly his best game as a pro. His assignment all game was against mammoth nose tackle Kris Jenkins, who came into the contest the leader of a front seven that was among the leagues best at tallying sacks and slowing down opponents on the ground.
Grade: A
