Caleb Sturgis' s first couple seasons have been pretty erratic and have left many fans wondering why we didn't keep Dan Carpenter, who has been clutch with the Bills.

Looking at Sturgis the past year, he was 29-37 for a FG % of 78.4%. His long was 53 yards. On kickoffs he had 85 total kicks with 37 touchbacks. 43.5% were TB's...the average kick was returned to the 26.9 yard line.

Let's compare this with Stephen Gostkowski who was 35-37 in FG's for a 94.6%. His long was 53 yards. Gost had 98 kickoffs with 63 touchbacks for a 53.5 percentage. Avg return was to the 21.

Gostkowski is a free agent, along with Revis, Ridley and several others. Gostkowki likely will receive offers in the $3.5 - $4 million range. If he is franchised it would be $4.4 million.

Robert Aguayo of FSU was clutch but has decided to return next season for the Noles.

Sam Ficken of Penn State is ESPN's top rated kicker, and he has been invited to the NFL Combines. From my own observations Ficken shouldn't be confused with Finkle. He is clutch in the cold at Happy Valley.

I say we ditch Stinkus and draft Ficken in the 6th or 7th rounds.

Thoughts???

NOT CALEB STURGIS......only thing he will be kicking next year is the curb......

Rather sign a final cuts kicker if neither Hocker or Sturgis emerges. I'd draft Kyle Loomis and cut Fields.

Yeah Hocker had a solid career at Arkansas. You're also right about Fields who had a pretty down year last year after being one of the best punters in 2013. The more competition the better.

man anyone not named caleb Sturgis will make me happy. if they change the rules like they want with extra points and narrow the post we are screwed

I guess I could give it a try I guess...How do I get a hold of Hickey and company?

Really need to move on from this real life bobble head. His FG accuracy is that of a 1970's kicker. My God he is terrible.

I really didn't follow when we brought in Dustin Hopkins, but he was the #1 kicker ahead of Stugis coming out of college. I feel he would be able to get it done, unless his injury has affected his kicking game.

Inexplicably we didnt sign Hopkins.. The Saints did. He'll probably go to the Pro Bowl next year lolol:crazy:
