The Dolphins will be glad to have Lawrence Timmons working with them, rather than against them, in 2017. Shelley Lipton/Icon Sportswire

Alonso and Timmons combined for 229 tackles in 2016 and should be a productive pairing for Miami this upcoming season.
“I haven’t talked to him yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to playing with him,” Alonso said of Timmons on Tuesday. “He’s definitely one of the guys who I admire the way that he plays. The guy is a great player and I definitely look forward to playing with him.”

The question I have with Kiko is..."Who can he cover?"

I'm in the Philly metro area and I watched every Eagles game that didn't clash with the Phins, and I can honestly say that the Eagles Kiko didn't look so far removed from the Dolphins Kiko in regards to coverage.

Maybe it was the schemes but it seems that a TE/RB was guaranteed a 1st down running any underneath route.

I generally don't have a problem with Kiko being on the field in passing situations if he's in a zone because he does make plays that way, but we need to have another LB next to him in the nickel that can do a better job man to man or as a blitzer. Kiko just doesn't have the quickness or long speed to keep up with backs or good receiving tight ends, and I don't see him applying much pressure as a rusher.
Kiko is a good player to have as a weakside LB becausr he's smart, he's a good team leader and he has a knack for coming up with big plays in some big spots, but this is why I'm beating the drum for Reddick if he's there at 22. Timmoms next to Kiko is a recipe for disaster covering the middle of the field (although having Jones back will help) and we are really gonna need a young playmaking LB that can cover man to man and rush the passer in a nickel defense. I know Reddick played mostly end at Temple but he's apparently shown great coverage skills, he can obviously blitz, he's tough, and he might project to being the Mike down the line for us.
An argument can be made for an end like Taco (who I doubt will be there anyway) or Lamp being the better value at 22, but I think Reddick is a much better option at LB than anyone who MAY be there round 2 like Cunningham or the Ohio St MLB whose name escapes me... Reddick is a great prospect and he fills a big void in our defense.
Kiko - Timmons - Reddick on 1st down and Kiko - Reddick in the nickel right now is galaxies better than hoping against hope that Misi doesn't break his freakin neck on first down, and then watching Timmons trip all over his dick in coverage situations.... I like the way our run D looks right now on paper a lot but how the hell are we supposed to effectively cover the middle of the field? I can't watch a bum like Flacco shred us over the middle again. That wss so painful to see...
So yeah. Basically go get me Hassan Reddick Goddamnit... Or Foster somehow by some miraculous draft slide or trade up.

Let's be clear....who doesn't provide a feast for NE on those routes!?

I agree with you on this, except the Texans in the divisonal round last playoffs, don't really know how they did it (personal and scheme) but really look like the Houston defence dominated that game. Yet the Patriots manage to win, but I was impressed since I didn't expect much fight from the Texans

I think Kiko and Timmons will be fine, I think people are vastly neglecting the fact that Jones is coming back full strength. That alone is going to do wonders to the underneath stuff.

I love Jones at SS, it's just that we need a true FS so he can rock underneath and our pass coverage not to be a detriment in Cover 1 or 3.

Where does Neville Hewitt fit in this?

I like him...I think Jenkins impeded his growth last season playing with a broken hand.

Hey Nate Allen is not that bad, plus the draft has some intriguing options as well

I watched the Eagles when Nate Allen was there...

I'll just say he and Jenkins had a lot to deal with backing up Fletcher and Williams...WIP use to have a field day with that secondary.

Budda Baker, Melifonwu, or Marcus Williams in round 2 perhaps? I doubt Obi drops to 54 but I'd run that ****in card up if he does. Wouldn't mind trading up for him if it meant our 3rd rounder either. Let's say rounds 1-3 nets us Reddick and Obi. I'd be thrilled.

Jenkins dealt with a knee injury last year. Alonso was the one with the thumb issues.
