Dolphins l Harris ready to compete

I hope so. KJ had a great college career, now it's time to step it up to the next level. He has the physical skill, he just needs to adjust to the higher level of the pro game.

Nice, but it doesn't really mean anything unless it translates into actual production. Don't get me wrong, I hope KJ does really well. But I wouldn't put too much stake into what coaches (or sportswriters) say about him in April.

If he can put it together, it won't be a bad drop off talent-wise....

Now, he is in NO WAY another RW, but he has more potential than Minor or Morris.

He has a lot of that same physical ability as Ricky Williams.

To illustrate, here is a comparison of Combine measurements.

Ricky Williams came in at the Combine 5106 and 244 pounds. He ran a 1.61, 2.62, and 4.56 in the 10, 20, and 40 yard dash. He had a vertical of 37 inches, a broad jump of 10'4". His wonderlic score was 30.

Kay-Jay Harris came in at the Combine 6003 and 243 pounds. He ran a 1.61, 2.71, and 4.56 in the 10, 20, and 40 yard dash. He had a vertical of 38 inches, a broad jump of 10'2". At his pro day he did a 40 inch vertical. He scored a 12 on the wonderlic.

It's funny you mention Ricky Williams in connection with Kay-Jay Harris. When Kay-Jay came out, physically speaking Ricky Williams was the back that Kay-Jay approximated best.

I think we will see a much better Harris in this TC and pre-season then we did last year's TC and pre-season. He didn't really get much of a chance last year because we have too many RB's and he was the lone goat. He should see a greater role and showcase his talents even more now. I have high hopes for him and I think he will be our # 3 guy. I could see him as our goaline and shot yardage back.

True, but KJ's vision and explosiveness are not on the same level. The vision can be coached to an extent, but you can't make a guy more "sudden".

Ricky and Kay Jay can have all the similarities in the world, but unless he has Ricky's ability to break tackles, vision, and cutting ability those that the things that I would like to see him have in common with Ricky.

Hopefully this is something that he can develop, to match the intangibles that him and Ricky both share.

I could deffinantly see him making the team as our 3rd RB, his chances are also greatly helped by his ability to play special teams. He made some outstanding plays in punt coverage last year in pre-season.

I think that he is not the answer, an undrafted rookie of 27 years old?

What is people expecting from him?

He isn't better than Morris or Minor at my point of view, but still could be a good sleeper...

Guys,
The problem with KayJay is his ability to pick up blocks in pass protection. If he can't do that, he's worthless, as defenses just KNOW he's gonna run the ball or else the team will commit offensive SUICIDE by allowing the QB to drop back knowing the RB cannot block to save his life.
