The Thursday kickoff game this year is on September 9th this season and the first Sunday of football is on September 12th.

The Marlins have an away game schedule on the 12th and have a home game scheduled the following Sunday.

Why do I say "likely" and not definite? There are a few ways that the NFL could tweak the schedule to get us on the road week one and home week 2. If the Jets(ha ha yeah right! ), Ravens or Vikings win the Super Bowl, we would be one of eight candidates to play the away opponent on the opening Thursday night game. However, since we were on the opening game as of just 2006, it probably won't happen. Plus, I don't see the league giving us two straight road games to start the season, UNLESS Week 2 is a Monday Night Football game.

There are some things that could change the schedule around, but safe bet and likely 90% going to happen is a home game to open the season. Plus, we started on the road last year so they will likely cycle back to a home game.

So who do you want to see in Week 1? Buffalo, New England, New York Jets, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Chicago or Detroit?

Beats opening on the road. I hope it's Tennessee or Pittsburgh, but I think it'll end up being Detroit.

Well, whoever we play, it'd be nice to you know, win. How long has it been since we won our opening game?

Interesting. Taking a look at Pittsburgh... I wonder if two teams not from the same division ever faced each other to both end one season and begin the next. (Playoffs excluded.)

Record buffs?

Cleveland has opened at home every season since 2002. Before 2006 Miami opened at home every season since 2000. You're probably right about Miami not opening the season with 2 straight road games cause they haven't done that in forever. But somebody will have to.

hopefully its someone easy, cause whenever we start the season against a Steelers,Colts,Redskins types of team,we suck for the next 4 games, and put ourselves in bad situations down the stretch.

KC and CIN did so in 2005 and 2006

Since a 2005 34-10 home win over DEN. before the HOU loss in 2004 on opening day Miami had won 11 straight season openers.

I hope we get Cleveland. I feel like that could be a game we could win pretty handily and hopefully get us playing with confidence. I don't want to be in another 0-2 or 0-0-3 scenario. I want to start out with a winning record out of the gate.

we lost to houston in 2003 opener 20-21 and the 2004 opener to tennessee 7-17

weve also lost 6 out last 7 openers. time for a home game season opener victory.

detroit or cleveland pl0x. we need to start off on a good note.
